Re: Altruism
Altruism is present everywhere in the biological world. An inherent drive to help and assist for benefit of the species is present all around us. Look at ants; I reckon the whole colony structure and working together is a form of altruism too but biologically defined.
But perhaps you are referring to *true *altruism where one being is selfless for the benefit of another intentionally. A genuine selfless drive for the well being of another I suppose? I sometimes align that definition with love too. But sure, it exists. Think of the thousands of people who give money or work for the benefit of others less fortunate than themselves. Sure, sometimes there is that selfish desire to feel good about doing something for another but sometimes its selfless, purely for the benefit of others with no inherent benefit.
In short, yeah. Or maybe that's just me trying to be an optimist.
