Re: Alternate Perspectives
“Alternate Perspectives” is an ongoing series of 360 degree panoramas by New York-based photographer Randy Scott Slavin.
“The artist’s initial work with spherical panoramas led him to the world of stereographic projection, the mapping of a three-dimensionally rounded image onto a flat plane. Taking pictures in both metropolises like Brooklyn and Miami as well as lush green fields and rugged canyons, Slavin manipulates these captures into scenic whirlpools, transforming skyscrapers, shrubs and sand into a spinning chromatic spiral. With influence deriving from the mind-bending work of M.C. escher, the scenes are at once magical and perplexing and treat viewers with a curious warped lens on reality.”
