alternate cuisine

Yesterday i made chicken and mushroom stroganoff which i believe is a dish which originates in russia, i ate it with rice and it was yummmyyyy.

The recipe is used is below:

450g chicken breast, cut into thin strips
2 tsp smoked paprika
50ml olive oil
1 onion, finely sliced
3 garlic cloves, crushed
1 green pepper, sliced
Button mushrooms, quartered
150ml chicken stock
Approx 50ml sour cream
Approx 70g sugar snap peas, blanched
Flat leaf parsley, large handful, chopped

Sprinkle the chicken with smoked paprika and season. In a hot pan, add a drizzle of olive oil and pan fry for 2 - 3 minutes until golden and three quarters cooked, put to one side to rest.

Reheat the frying pan with fresh olive oil, sauté the onion and garlic until tender then add the peppers and the mushrooms and cook for a further 3-4 minutes. Deglaze the pan with a ladle of chick stock and bring to the boil. Add the sour cream and mix through.

Add the cooked chicken and any extra juices into the sauce and bring back to the boil (add more chicken stock if drying out). Finally mix through the sugar snap peas and flat leaf parsley.

What other dishes do you guys like from cuisines which are more altnernative not the standard indian italian and mexican.

Re: alternate cuisine

Rice? I once saw a recipe which used pasta, this sounds like a good recipe, nothing too alarming for desi taste buds.

I've noticed that desi people don't really stray away from the regular, Italian, Chinese, Mexican cuisine...

Re: alternate cuisine

White Light, in my uni cafeteria they used to serve that with rice only. I believe originally it's with rice only. It tastes nice with rice. Tastes amazing with pasta if there is extra cheese in it.

Re: alternate cuisine

yeah its traditionally served with rice, its been adapted for western europe and mixed with pasta.

Re: alternate cuisine

Either way this dish is damn tasty.

Re: alternate cuisine

Nice I will try it.
