Altaf Hussain wants establish people’s armies to fight Taliban.
While I appreciate his anti-terrorist sentiments, but I consider his solution to be a recipe for another type of disaster.
Let’s say these haq-parast armies, as he puts it, are successful in eliminating Talibanic terrorism. This is highly unlikely but let’s say it does happen. What will then happen to those trained armed people who defeated Talibanic terrorists?
Such people will start using their militancy training in various other forms, like robberies and ethnic rivalries. And this will result in another form of security breakdown in the country.
Besides, even if such armies are formed, it is unlikely they will succeed. Because Taliban are guerrilla forces. They hide among civilians. So these armies can not “attack” anywhere, not even FATA. And since they are guerrillas therefore they can justify killing of even more Pakistanis with impunity due to presence of these armies.
Instead of raising these armies, government can take many other steps that can effectively eliminate terrorism. All it requires is political will, and no distinction of “good” and “bad” Taliban.
I think NO ONE in the country should be allowed to create armed groups, except government.
By the way, Altaf’s talking of “armies” shows again what he did to Karachi back in 90s. He still can not see that his violent strategy was a DISASTER for Karachi. He continues to prescribe the same failed medicine over and over again.
KARACHI: Chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Altaf Hussain, said attack on the shrine of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (Data Darbar) in Lahore on Thursday night was an attack on humanity.
Altaf expressed these views during his telephonic address from London. He suggested that people should develop a private security culture in the country for their safety. He called for establishing ‘Haq Parast’ army to fight terror.
MQM Chief urged people to remain vigilant against suspected people in their vicinity.
Altaf reiterated that his party would continue to work for bringing peace and stability in the country, adding that he has been warning of terror threats since long.
He directed the people to remain vigilant of any plot against the country.
