Malik Sahib, you seems to be Neutral Person.
Whatever happened in Past, it is past and MQM was NOT ALONE Responsible.
But during last 8 years of Musharraf, MQM has proved that it could be Positive FORCE.
Remember, neither MQM presented any Illegal Deman to Musharraf (like people accuse MQM for JinahPur) nor Musharraf accepted any such Illegal Demand. But still there was Total Peace and Development during 8 years of Musharraf (contrary to all 4 Eras of PPP and Nawaz).
Doesn't question arises in mind "WHY"?
How was Musharraf able to bring peace to Karachi without firing even a Single Bullet?
People must think about it and then they would be able to find the Truth about both Musharraf and MQM. Insha-Allah.
I would answer your question by saying the #1 way Musharraf has had peace with MQM in Karachi is because he has supported them. He has run all of his Karachi strategy through MQM, this includes the crushing of the Lawyers and Civil Society last May and his earlier handicapping of MQM-H group.
There are 2 sides to this problem. 1 are the fools in here who seem to think ONLY MQM is an issue. This is untrue and leads to labelling of a specific ethnic group. This approach is not right.
The other side is those who blindly support MQM.
People need to realize that tolerance and acceptance is the only way forward.
Groups like the MQM absolutely CANNOT resort to violence and savagry every time they are challenged. This will not lead to any good ending for anyone. They need to accept the fact that a significant portion of Karachi is not of there ethnic group and does not support them. They should attempt to widen there support base outside of ethnicity and they should drop there mafia like structure and propensity for violence.
As for those in the opposition. Understand that there have been inexcusable incidents in the past against the Urdu speaking that helped to create this monster we call MQM. This needs to be prevented in the future.
There should be no tolerance for violence of any kind.
