In Pakistan almonds are believe to be good for brain and that they make you intelligent. Parents give them to their kids to help them score high in school. Is it a myth or is there some reality to it? Any scientific research into it, etc. Any article in that respect…
My friend who is doing pre-medicine claimed that almonds are bad for brain/memory and should not be eaten, which is opposite to what is said in Pakistan. I think he might be confused between bitter and sweet almonds.
I heard that since bitter almonds are not eaten, so almond-oil is extracted from bitter almonds and through some chemical process some harmful acid/liquid is removed from it. Whereas, that harmful material is not present in sweet almonds.
Almonds have Vitamin E in them don't they? I guess that's good for the brain, but it doesn't necessarily mean they'll make a kid smart or intelligent.
Almonds are used as more of a memory aid. So that kids can perform better on tests that require memorization/rattafication.
Almonds are also a cheap way of getting the trace mineral selenium which has been shown to counteract degenerative brain diseases such as Alzeimers and Parkinsons.
