Yes it is. But the one you get at the western supermarkets is a bit different from the desi style garam masala, probably due to different mix.

riya, you can get allspice mixture in the supermarket. is it a western dish you're making or desi?

western allspice looks like a whole black pepper but it is slightly bigger. Here’s a pic
