Allopathic vs. Alternative medicine

How many of you, religiously do not believe in alopathic-medicine?

Everybody is welcome to share their own simple plans to spirituality, or a sagacious one liner.
This is adapted from a book on alternative medicine.

Take 12 whole months
Clean them thoroughly of all bitterness, rumors, hate & jealousy (make them as fresh & clean as possible)
Now cut each month into 28, 29, 30, or 31 different parts.
But don’t make up the whole batch at once…
Instead prepare it “one day at a time.”
Mix well each day with:
One part faith
One part patience
One part courage
One part work,
Add one part each of hope, honesty,
Generosity & kindness
Blend with:
One part prayer
One part meditation
At least one good deed
Season the whole with a dash of good spirit
A sprinkle of fun,
A pinch of play & a cupful of good humor.
Pour all of this into a vessel of love.
Cook thoroughly over radiant joy .
Garnish with smiles.
& serve with quietness, unselfishness, & good cheer
You are bound to make a life of happiness & peace & good health!

also, food can be taken as medicine.
spiritual healing is also a source of inner contentment & health.
any thoughts on this?

Re: Allopathic vs. Alternative medicine

Thats beautiful Dushwari...
I am so very against allopathic medicine...however there are time we have no alternative but to take it.
As far as possible, I believe in alternative medicine. I have overcome eczema and also cured a toothache with homeopathic remedies. And as for your above quote I hold it to be absolutely relevant to our health and well-being. It is in times of stress and depression and other negative emotions that we are prone to sickness as our immunity is at its lowest. Laughter is the Best Medicine!
I keep at home Homeopathic Remedies for Cough/Cold symptoms and food poisoning. Regularly take Vitamins and Mineral supplements. Keep a few aromatherapy oils at home.
Of course there is **no substitute **for the proper balanced diet. But in this day and age where we import oranges from the other side of the world, buy veggies to last us several days, and use chemical fertilizers/pesticides, we have to help nature with a few food supplements.

Re: Allopathic vs. Alternative medicine

hmm…something to think abt…:faizy:

BTW…any sort of medicine also requires faith & prayer & luck of course…be it homeopathic or ayurvedic or allopathy or reflexology…or any other kind of medicine…

Re: Allopathic vs. Alternative medicine

Totally agreed with you. Or is it the other way round…faith and prayers require you to be in the nick of health first:confused:

Anyway looking after your body and mind are both forms of worship as these
are God given gifts and we have a duty to take care of them.

Re: Allopathic vs. Alternative medicine

yup as the saying going…health is wealth…:faizy:
i was actually trying to come up with an urdu saying…it’s similar to this…but i can’t remember it real well right now…

Re: Allopathic vs. Alternative medicine

could not agree more with all of you, your comments are so nice and you say it in an innocent & fun way.
indeed, medicine requires faith and prayer, eventually.

thanks,

Re: Allopathic vs. Alternative medicine

There are lot of things wrong with allopathic medicine, but, what is right about it, is its willingness to put itself to test.

Medicine does NOT require faith and prayer, the human body, yes, does require faith and prayer for emotional well being. Yes, the overworked health care officials are not able to provide that support and this is where the Quaks pounce upon people to rob them off their money. Expensive therapies that does not affect the course of disease.

And remember, the human body has tremendous ability to heal itself, most colds, aches and pains, do not require any medicine and will become better if nothing is done.

Re: Allopathic vs. Alternative medicine

iconoclast,

you are making sense. however, the quacks' pouncing on the unavailability of supernatural healing, is a separate issue.

countless bio medical journal articles, esp. those on recovering patients from cancers or containing the aids disease, do attest to the peace that they can harness by turning to religion and being faithful in religion and its consequent healing.

it is true that allopathic medicine in itself, can be powerful & very industrious, when ethical doctors put it as a tool to relieve diseased or ill people or lives.

the argument, i would like to make is that it should go hand in hand with
other forms of natural remedies, and one of these is therapeutic use of prayer and also being in touch with nature, being mobile (exercising --> yoga, aerobics, running), as well as using healthy food for better nutrition.

i do not disagree with you, but it is too stand offish to disregard religion totally in this way.

after all, the resilience or self-healing capacity in the human body is God given. to be able to utilize it, at least we owe this much to the same maker, to believe in it.
