Allied planes 'raid Iraqi oil plant'

Allied planes ‘raid Iraqi oil plant’

US and British planes have attacked an oil installation in the southern Iraqi town of Basra, killing at least four people, local residents say.
Western news agencies were told by local people that the raid hit the Southern Oil Company - which supervises Iraq’s oil exports under an oil-for-food deal with the United Nations.

“Four people were martyred and several others wounded during the raid” [Unnamed resident speaking to Reuters]

The US Central Command said its aircraft had attacked a communications facility after planes patrolling the northern no-fly zone had come under attack.

Coalition raids never targeted civilians, it said.

Comment: Oil for food deal with the United Nations, they go on about human rights and they take oil from Iraqi’ Muslims in exchange for food, pure hypocrisy. Yep, that sums up the Capitalist states, a life is worth nothing to them unless it’s there own, and even then they are willing to risk this in the name of Freedom, which really means for there own greed and strategic interests in Iraq and indeed all over the Muslim world. Any yet the so-called leaders of the Muslim countries sit on there thrones whilst they watch the blood thirsty hound drink Muslim blood. Yet they know not that they are mere pawns in a chess game them selves waiting for the Muslim blood thirsty hound to turn on them, like he’s doing with Saddam.

Kosser

You were starting to make a little sense until you got to the Khilafah part. THat just made everything irrelevant.

DO you honestly think that Iraq's oil by it's self makes a difference?ORaq by iteself cannot supply the growing needs of countries like Indian and CHina. They should be the ones pissed at Iraq. The same oil game you accuse the US of playing was started by Saddam to take over the oil fields of Kuwait, then Saudi. Then the enitre world would have been held hostage to extortion. Granted all wars are economic in nature. It sould come as no surprise to you. Gone are the medieval days of fighting wars for religion. (get over it)

WHere is your hatred towards Saddam? He killed more muslims than America and britain combined. Where is your hatred for Ayatollahs of Iran who did the same? You guys are a bunch of hypocrits.

Where is my support for Saddam? Where is my support for Ayatollah?

The biggest problem among muslims is that we don't have single vision or unity. We always get trapped in short term outcomes. They will divide and concour... have some for breakfast, some at the lunch time and the left over will be taken care of at the dinner.

Learn to READ my man...find me someone on these boards who's a muslim and supports Saddam or Ayatola for that matter....

And you speak of us being ignorant :)

Heh.....u`ll live and learn..right now ur too full of life's little pleasures to bother about others really.

You Speak of Saddam killing millions of muslims...yet you dont go to the root of the problem that it was the US that supplied saddam with the weapons to do so.

I really find it funny nowadays when bigwigs come on TV and say Saddam gassed his own people...they dont remind us of how they themselves provided the moron with the means to do so.

Do take a deep look at yourself before calling other hypocrates...

Oh and as for the 'medieval days of fighting wars over religion'....Maybe one hasnt been following world news all too much now....because i for one see it happening all over the world...

When a man murders someone on the street, we should let him go and complain to the gun manufacturer. Brilliant.

Deadly Raid on Basra Overshadows Arms Inspections

UN experts visited a crop-spraying facility and factories for missile casings and aircraft engines on a fourth day of arms inspections overshadowed by a Western air raid that killed at least eight Iraqis.

Twenty more people were injured when warplanes bombed the premises of the Southern Oil Company in the southern Iraqi city of Basra, residents told AFP by telephone Sunday.

Heh...its called SUPPORTING TERRORISM and supplying ARMs AND AMMUINITION to TERRORISTS

the same reason why the taliban government was taken out by the US...the taliban didnt bomb the US but they indirectly supported Al Qaida...

Anymore smart comments mister Kareem ?

Once secret base could be key in Iraq conflict

The United States’ access to military bases in Qatar is reportedly unfettered. This means that should the United States decide to go it alone in a military strike against Iraq, that will be acceptable with Qatar’s Emir Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

That’s unlike Qatar’s neighbor to the south, Saudi Arabia, where the use of military bases by U.S. forces against Iraq is sort of “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

Ease of access and a runway measuring more than 12,000 feet helps make Al Udeid Air Base the region’s busiest aviation gas station, providing fuel for thirsty fighter planes still patrolling the skies over Afghanistan.

The once top secret base went public shortly after the September 11 attacks on the United States.

Now large U.S. military planes lumber around the acres of ramps and runways or take off on round-the-clock support missions for Operation Enduring Freedom.

Flight time to Afghanistan is 2 1/2 hours, the same time it would take for U.S. planes to reach Iraq.

More than 2,000 U.S. Air Force personnel live and work in the searing heat of over 100 degrees Fahrenheit to keep the planes flying.

Security for the massive base is provided jointly by Qatari and U.S. forces.

Base commander Col. Timothy Scott won’t say anything about Al Udeid’s potential role in a conflict with Iraq, only that the facilities and technologies at the air base are capable of handling anything.

Scott described relations between the U.S. and Qatar governments as outstanding.

There is a lot of construction going on at this base which reporters were not allowed to videotape, because technically the work is all being done by the Qatari government, not by the U.S. military.

The work is reportedly part of a major improvement plan recently approved by the government of Qatar. But the scale of construction seems out of place for a country with an air force of just a dozen fighter planes.

Comment: If puppets, so-called Muslim rulers didn’t let America have bases then what chance does America have to bomb Iraq or indeed bomb any part of the Gulf? Saudi is quite because the Muslims are against having a base, but the self-appointed Emir Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. Is proud to kneel down to the Americans and pray towards the Whitehouse. He has sold the lives of the Muslims for a cheap price, and that is so he gets praise from his sheikh (GW Bush). But on yowmal hisaab (the day of reckoning) he will not stand in front of Bush, he will stand in front of Allah (swt).

Remove the sell-outs and put in place a sincere khaleefah who will look after the affairs of the Ummah no matter what he is offered.

Eid Mubarak to all!

khaleefah?

I've seen Khalifa, Khalipha, Caliphate, Caliph and now this new one. You guys can't even come up w/a single way to spell this pipe dream, much less get it implemented.

I have a good idea. You should start with building something more attainable first, maybe something like a "Lego-Land". All the pieces actually fit, and it might even be fun.

Its so obvious without the co-operation of turkey, saudi and now qatar aswell as other countries like egypt the Americans have big problem bombing iraq or libya.

without these puppet rulers help the US navy 5th fleet probably firing pot shots from the atlantic :bukbuk:

Iraq brands inspectors US spies

BAGHDAD, Dec 5: Iraq on Wednesday branded UN arms experts spies and said it was mulling the idea of calling for “independent experts” to monitor the work of the inspectors.

Iraqi Vice President Taha Yassin Ramadan was quoted on Thursday as saying that the inspectors were “spies in the pay of the Central Intelligence Agency and the Mossad”, who were laying the groundwork for a US-led invasion.

Talking to a delegation of visiting Egyptian MPs, the Iraqi vice president said “the inspectors did not come to satisfy themselves that Iraq does not possess weapons of mass destruction, but came to provide the best conditions and the most precise intelligence for the attack to come”.

“We think that the work of the (UN) inspection team must be under the observation of all media,” said Ramadan through an interpreter to BBC and Middle East journalists in Baghdad.
