Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

LogoN ko aur kitna bewaqoof banana hay in Noora league waloN nay?

An alliance being formed between PML-N and PPP in the near future? Quite possible!

I just wonder what will Zardari be telling NS in the meeting, perhaps something like “MiaN saab banday ban jao, nahi to maiN yay aap ki disqualification kay cases laga hooN open karney”.

Nawaz, Zardari expected to meet soon, says Raisani
*This was said by Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani on Sunday.
*

Raisani also said those who are conspiring against the democratic system would fail. He however would not reveal the expected date of their meeting.
Certain analysts had predicted the possibility of both the PPP and the PML-N joining hands for certain collective interests in the emerging political situation. The PML-N already is accused of playing role of a friendly opposition.

It was only yesterday that Nawaz Sharif fired salvos against the PPP government over prices of gas and other issues.

  • However, certain quarters predicted that Nawaz was changing his Go Zardari campaign to No Imran campaign ever since his PML faction was served a severe blow with the successful PTI rally in Lahore. The Karachi rally attended by erstwhile PML-N stalwart Javed Hashmi only highlighted the dilemma of infighting afflicting the PML-N. *

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

The same news in Tribune as well.

Zardari, Nawaz consider united front
**It looks like the sweets former premier Nawaz Sharif received from President Asif Ali Zardari on his birthday are working a treat. Associates of both leaders are now trying to arrange a one-on-one meeting between Zardari and Sharif.

**

**The move would be a symbolic demonstration of unity amid growing suspicion within the two largest parties that the security establishment is out to derail democracy.
**

Officials from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) told The Express Tribune that both men were afraid of ‘emerging threats to democracy’ in the form of the establishment backing a so-called third political force.

Both leaders, their affiliates said, are worried about the rising popularity of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and believe that a ‘hidden hand’ is behind the former cricketer’s rise.

“Imran is their utmost worry at the moment … they think he is being pampered to limit their political influence and the situation may force them to try to find minimum common grounds,” a PPP official said. “That is why most of us and Mian [Nawaz Sharif] Sahib’s party members believe that a meeting between the two can send out a strong message that we are united to save democracy from any assault or infiltration,” he added, asking to not be identified.

A top official from the PML-N also confirmed that efforts were underway to arrange a meeting between the president and the opposition party chief. In a background conversation, several other leaders from both sides said that reduced tension between the two parties was in the interests of both Zardari and Sharif.

The president, some of them added, desperately needed a political boost after an apparent standoff with the military over the Memogate scandal, while Sharif’s fears that the next parliamentary elections might get delayed, minimising his chances to win them, would be allayed.

“It will be a win-win situation for both of them,” said a PML-N member.

Officials from both sides said there had been talks between the two leaders since reports emerged that the military hierarchy wanted to replace the PPP administration with a national unity government. “That was a game changer,” a PML-N leader said.

There have been signs of a détente throughout the week.

**According to Zardari’s spokesperson, Farhatullah Babar, the president sent a bouquet and sweets to Sharif on his birthday on December 25. Then, in his address to a rally on the death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto two days later, Zardari said he had highest regard and respect for Sharif.
**

Babar, however, did not respond when asked if a meeting was being planned between them in the coming weeks.

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

Democracy means government either in the hands of PPP or PML. Everything else is assault or infiltration. PML-Q, MQM, ANP, JUI are always ready to be part of power, whoever it may belong to.

So by the time elections will approach, it will be an all-party alliance against PTI. Bravo!

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

What ever decision NS will take will be in the best interest of the nation (like always)… :snooty:

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

Well, its good the prime minister is seeing some light. Hopefully Nawaz Sharif is thinking the same (his ego would be coming in between as always).

‘Third force’: Gilani warns Nawaz that both lose if govt fallsBy Abdul Manan / APP

****LAHORE: **The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has again sent a message to its rival, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, that when it comes to defending democracy, the two parties are ‘in this together’.

**
**Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani admitted on Sunday that a ‘third force’ could come to power if his government collapsed, but warned PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif that he stood little chance of taking the helm.
**

Referring to corruption charges against the government, he said that every democratic administration in the past was removed on charges of corruption. In a dig at his political opponent, Gilani said that Nawaz should know that corruption charges against the government would not result in Nawaz attaining power.

The comments also appear to lend weight to recent murmurs that the two parties were considering shows of unity in the face of a rising Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf – what they, insiders say, perceive as a security- backed ‘third force’.

Speaking at a function in Lahore, Gilani said that conspiracies were afoot to block the Senate elections, a private TV channel reported. He warned against such moves, saying a serious blow to democracy would bring the country to a standstill and insisting the Senate elections would go ahead as planned in May.

The PM also reiterated his certainty that the PPP would win the Senate elections.

The frequent stream of corruption allegations, from one political party to the other, was criticised by the PM, who termed them a fad. “If we have done corruption, an institution is there to take account of that,” he said, asking those with proof against his party to take the matter up in the courts.

On the issue of creating a Seraiki province, the PM said efforts were continuing and that all political parties were united on the issue. Gilani emphasised that constitutional means would be used to bring the Seraiki province into being.

Gilani also declared that the load-shedding problem would be tackled within a year. He dismissed providing subsidies on tariffs as a possible remedy for the issue, stating that electricity and gas tariffs were linked to world markets and therefore such subsidies would be largely irrelevant.

**The PM announced that a special cabinet meeting would be held on Tuesday to tackle the energy shortages.
**

Broaching Pakistan-US ties, he said the relationship should be in line with the will of the people. “No war can be waged without the people’s power,” he said. “All decisions about ties with the US will be taken in parliament by keeping the people’s interests uppermost,” he told PTV.

Gilani also presided over a party meeting at which the PPP decided to launch a mass awareness campaign across Punjab. The PM will, apparently, use speeches and public gatherings to shore up support.

“The PPP, in its first phase, would arrange the public gatherings in six divisions of the Punjab. The first public gathering would be held on January 21 at Sargodha where Gilani will address the PPP rally,” said PPP Punjab Deputy General Secretary Usman Malick. He said that after two weeks the PPP would hold its second public gathering in Kasur.

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

nothing is impossible in Pakistani polticis, things get more excited in polticial ground if that alliance come real.

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

There is more common ground between PML(N) and PTI than PML(N) and PPP. The egos on both sides preventing this. It would have been so good for the country if NS had resigned from parliament a few months ago and demand earlier elections.

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

Ns will never resign from the assemblies as he cannot risk going into elections without Punjab assemblies.

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

It is purely egoistic issues between the two, and that is giving hopes to the PPP govt that the division of the votes ( repeat of 1993) will somehow bring PPP back in govt... if that happens then nobody but the leadership of both parties has to be blamed...

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

I guess PML-N went into elections of 2008 when they were not in Punjab Assembly??? didn't they???

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

So do you think they will resign?

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

I don't know

but i personally feel that resignation from the parliament is not going to set a good precedent or example in the parliamentary history of Pakistan!!!

Why? simply the parliament have not done any thing unconstitutional yet!!! and in this case resigning from assemblies just to topple govt does not make any sense!!! What if tomorrow, PTI gets to make govt and opposition just for the sake of toppling the PTI - led govt resigns from the assemblies??? Please answer this one???

And moreover, the early elections will only benefit PPP!!! making them syasi shaheed ( the thing PPP leadership is banking on or wanting more than anything) is going to bring the almost neutralize Hard-core PPP supporter back to ranks of PPP... which is going to be a real bad-news for both PTI and PML because their voter will be confused and divided... This is reality, PTI may not buy this, PML may want to close their eyes to it, but this is reality that with all the awareness comes the confusion, whereas, most of PPP supporters Just Have Trust on Their Leadership ( have you heard this thing before), hence no confusion what so ever, they will vote for Jamshed Dasti ten more times...

Nawaz stops his workers in Karachi from chanting slogans “Go Zardari GO”.

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

Bro, I dont know if resigning from the assemblies will help or not. The thing is that NS should have thought about the consequences before threatening the resignations, his statements like these which he later has to retract hurt him a lot but either he is oblivious of that fact or doesn't care.

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

When did NS threaten the govt to resign from Parliaments?

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

I havent been able to find a statement from NS, but how can Saad Rafiq or Kh Asif say something which does not have the backing of the party?

Well there’s a news related to Khawaja Asif according to which PMLN will resign from parliament within two months, and then there’s a statement from NS saying that nothing will happen even if PMLN resigns.

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

Anyways the situation is such if PMLN forms an alliance with PPP it will lose a lot of support, and if it stays away it will lose out. In both situations PMLN seems to be a loser, so it would be an interesting year to see how PMLN pulls through from this.

Re: Alliance between NS and Zardari soon?

^^ Ever heard something called, things in discussion?

This is exactly what is the case here!!! The original idea for resigning popped out of no where (if i recall it right) in the last quarter of last year. Ever since, media persons are asking questions about it and IK have also joined them, asking PML-N to resign... and since then there was a debate between the party to see if the is going to exercise it or not...

Nothing else is there in it...
