Allama Iqbal Week- Are you inspired?

Allama Iqbal is without any doubt a great personality for the South Asian continent. He had the blessed vision to see into the future, and his works indicate the occurances of the future and how he saw the world events taking shape. He has inspired not only Pakistanis, but Indians, as well as Farsi-speakers, and the fame of his poetry reaches deep into Europe as is evident by Iqbal Academy established in Scandinivia.

He was indeed the inspiring force of a man behind Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Jinnah had on many occassions described Allama Iqbal as a seer, a visionary, and Jinnah’s spiritual guide who transformed Jinnah and helped in realize the dream of a Muslim nation thus Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The question is, has Iqbal inspired you in a personal way? Has his poetry touched your life, and if so, how?

I have had the pleasure of listening to some Iqbal’s poetry and the all-time famous Iblis’s Majlis-e-Shurah (Satah’s Counsel Meeting), as well as Shikwah and Jawab-e-Shikwah in which Iqbal address the plight of the muslims worldwide, and then responds to the complaints put forth.

I would recommend you all to atleast read those two works, and you will apprecaite their beauty and the deep-rooted meaning they carry.

Please share of Iqbal what you wish, for this week we appreciate the Poet-Philosopher who is a big part of us being Pakistanis.

Re: Allama Iqbal Week- Are you inspired?

I hope we realize why he stressed so much on 'Khudi'. It is now a cornerstone of modern psychological coaching styled as 'self actualization'. For me, put simply, it means to try and find something:

  1. You love to do
  2. You are very good at

One's life is much better if one does find that 'something' and even better when it becomes one's occupation as well.
