Re: Allama Iqbal an Ahmadi?
allama iqbal was impressed by ghulam ahmad at first but then discovered the truth behind his propganda and separated from him....
its the first time i hear of sir syed ahmad khan being into ahmadism....
Re: Allama Iqbal an Ahmadi?
sir syed was'nt ahmadi but he was according to some british author a ........i will post it later in detail....my baby's crying.
Re: Allama Iqbal an Ahmadi?
"sir syed started as a clerk with the East India company in 1838"
"During the Indian Mutiny of 1857 he had taken the side of the British"
'he began a sypmathetic interpretation of the Bible"
he interpreted:
"that jesus died a natural death and was not assumed into heaven as islamic orthodoxy believed, and that 'Jihad' by the sword had been abrogated and replaced with 'jihad of the pen'."
Britannica CD 2000 DELUXE
his believes were quite similar with the ahmadis but he was'nt an ahmadi.(i think so)
Re: Allama Iqbal an Ahmadi?
Thanks for the clarifications. Listening to some lectures and reading about pro-islamic pre-partition history books that are available here in the States, it is alarming how much of an influence and precedence people of non-sunni sect maintained over the muslim politics; Quaid-e-Azam, Allma Iqbal (though he was not an Ahmedi but nontheless either allured by Ghulam Ahmed or considered an Ahmedi by followers of the sect), and Sir Syed Ahmed Khan namely. What are your views about that?

Re: Allama Iqbal an Ahmadi?
Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was not an ahmadi, he was a materialist.
He rejected the existance of angels and jinns. He rejected the karamaat, for eg. the raising of water by Moses, because Water is a liquid and one of the characteristics of liquid is that it mantains its state. He had similar views about the fire in which Ibrahim (as) was put and other instances mentioned in the quran.
Sir Syed Ahmed Khan is widely regarded as the father of "mozlem" modernists, liberalists, secularists and possibly even athiests, in the subcontinent.
Re: Allama Iqbal an Ahmadi?
I think we don't want to discuses these type of things.. what ever they are... but they did a Gr8 Job for this nation and all the Muslims.. of Pak-o-Hind!
Re: Allama Iqbal an Ahmadi?
Allama Iqbal was not Qadiyani
The issue has been discussed here
http://www.paklinks.com/gs/showthread.php?t=207461&highlight=iqbal
Infact his poetry was very anti qadiyani
using terms as * shaikh kaleesa nawaz* , * barg e hashish * etc for this group and his leader.
