yeah ive heard that too..
ive also heard those with high imaan get the hardest of tests.. like the Prophets (alaisalatho wasalam), and waliullahs...

That reminds me of my Phupo, who is truly an angel. She is so selfless and generous and has had such a rough time. It's hard to think, "Why does she deserve this?" But she never asks that of herself, she just prays and has faith in Allah. She has so much strength and dignity, God Bless her.

"No soul shall have a burden laid on it greater than it can bear" (Qur'an 2:233)
"On no soul does Allah place a burden greater than it can bear... Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear..." (2:286)
Different people can withstand different burdens... everyone is tested according to the level of what he/she can bear... those with greater iman and fortitude can take on more...

And what do you think a test or exam is for?.....
Well an exam is only to increase darjaat of a person who HE loves more. The tougher the exam and higher the score, higher are the marks (rewards). The more HE wants to reward you, the more tough test you get to take. And of course, nothing beyond unbearable.

How do you know if it’s a test from Allah cus' u r so dear to Him or is it cus' u r considered so sinful that Allah doesn’t listen to your prayers!? A lot of prayers we make are not fulfilled right away or sometimes takes a life time to figure out if they have been heard or sometimes they are not even obvious that they have been accepted by Allah (SWT) at all.

Yes Allah ta'ala tests the most who He loves, I have heard many Awliya Allah, the Sufis, the scholars of Tasawwuf say that.
And this is the reason why they are given the Best of Maqams near Allah ta'ala.
But one must keep in mind, testing does not mean only physical testing, it can come in different ways.
