Allah Almighty

Basic Islamic philosophy stems from oneness of Allah and its absolute power without any sharing.
One philosphical arguments I heard so many times is about the power behind every occurrence and events in this world.

  1. Can any act happen without the will of Allah? possible answers: yes or no

2)If yes: i.e. something can happen without or against the will of Allah.(it would defy the absoluteness of Allah)

  1. If no: i.e. nothing can happen without the will of Allah (it would mean that Allah’s will is behind every good and bad act on this world or in other words, man has nothing to be blamed of, since Allah’s will is behind everything.

Belief is not what mind possesses, it is what possesses the mind!

Thats what makes insaan ASHRAF ul MAKHLOOQAT because they have power to make decisions and they have nafs to differ between good and bad. ALLAH has control over everything but insaan has been given lil power too to control their own fate.

Hmm, so Allah has no power over what man does or Allah has limited powers over what man does. How would we know what are the limits of Allah's powers over the man.

Allah has complete control over us... This duniya is supposed to be a test for us.. therefore Allah SWT has commanded us to use our own thinking to move through life.. but whenever we want, we can turn to him for guidance...

ammarr: your statements are contradictory to themselves. You wrote " Allah has complete control over us..", then you wrote, " Allah SWT has commanded us to use our own thinking...".
If you are allowed to use own thinking, it means that Allah has no control over "your thinking". If Allah has no control over thinking, it means he does not have ** complete** control over you.

ANalize you are posting dublicate threads.

Allah has given us option of "choice" we CAN either do what he says or we can either go on our own path and become astray as he warns in quran about that over and over again.

He showed you the right and the wrong path and warned you about what will happen if you chose wrong path and what reward you will get if you chose the right path. Now you make the choice - to go right or left and wait and be patient for your reward or punishment depending on what kind of path you choose.

My sincere apologies to mo....... in disguise. Would not happen again.

Analysis of your thoughts reveals that man has completely free will and that Allah has no interference, control or authority over it. Some of the previous comments show that many people believe that All has ** complete** and ** absolute** control over everything which is wrong???

“Allah knows hidden matters and is aware of inner feelings. He encompasses everything. He has control over everything and power over everything. Everyone of you should do whatever he has to do during his days of life before the approach of death, in his leisure before his occupation, and during the breathing of his breath before it is overtaken by suffocation, should provide for himself and his journey and should collect provision from his place of halt for his place of stay.” ref: Nahjul Balagha

Imam Ali (as) further says:
"O’ creatures of Allah! Fear Allah and anticipate your death by good actions. Purchase everlasting joy by paying transitory things - pleasures of this world. Get ready for the journey, for you are being driven, and prepare yourselves for death, since it is hovering over you. Be a people who wake up when called, and who know that this world is not their abode, and so have it changed (with the next).

Certainly, Allah has not created you aimlessly nor left you as useless. There is nothing between anyone of you and Paradise or Hell except death that must befall him. The life that is being shortened every moment and being dismantled every hour must be regarded very short. The hidden thing namely death which is being driven (to you) by two over new phenomena, the day and the night, is certainly quick of approach. The traveller which is approaching with success or failure (namely death) deserves the best of provision. So acquire such provision from this world while you are here with which you may shield yourself tomorrow (on the Day of Judgement).

So everyone should fear Allah, should admonish himself, should send forward his repentance and should overpower his desire, because his death is hidden from him, his desires deceive him and Satan is posted on him and he beautifies for him sin so that he may commit it and prompts him to delay repentance till his desires make him the most negligent. Piety is for the negligent person whose life itself would be a proof against him and his own days (passed in sin) would lead him to punishment.

We ask Allah, the Glorified, that He may make us and you like one whom bounty does not mislead, whom nothing can stop from obedience of Allah and whom shame and grief do not befall after death." ref:Nahjul Balagha

I am sure of at least one thing that these statements are in opposition to each other and that no one has a clear grasp of this philosophy.
Per ramesha; if Allah encompasses everything, has control over everything and power over everything, there should not be any “choice” given as per watcher.
May be confused can help.

analyze bhae please dont make it lot more confusing then it is.
These are the philosphical confusions only to be discussed with proper scholars who could give you proper answer in the shade of great books like Quran, nahjul balagha etc.

What watcher is saying is not wrong either…If you read what Surdar Asif said then you would notice a key word "NAFS. Life is just a game revolving around nafs.

I’ve read a book based on pakistani scholar’s speeches given in 1999 Moharram, called Nafs-e-Hazir by allama talib Johari of pakistan.
Its an absolutely great book. You might want to have a read or else i will look for the speeches in eral format on the net and provide you the links insha allah.

Some Verses:

Al-Baqara (The Cow) Verses 26:

Allah disdains not to use the similitude of things, lowest as well as highest. Those who believe know that it is truth from their Lord; but those who reject Faith say: “What means Allah by this similitude?” By it He causes many to stray, and many He leads into the right path; but He causes not to stray, except those who forsake (the path).

Al-Anfal, verse, 46:

And obey Allah and His Messenger. and fall into no disputes, lest ye lose heart and your power depart; and be patient and persevering: For Allah is with those who patiently persevere:

Hud (The Prophet Hud) 11:9

If We give man a taste of Mercy from Ourselves, and then withdraw it from him, behold! he is in despair and (falls into) blasphemy.

Hud (The Prophet Hud) 11:10

But if We give him a taste of (Our) favours after adversity hath touched him, he is sure to say, “All evil has departed from me:” Behold! he falls into exultation and pride.

If you can understand this:

Al-Ma’idah (The Table Spread) 5:90

O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination,- of Satan’s handwork: eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper.

Al-Ma’idah (The Table Spread) 5:91

**Satan’s plan is (but) to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah, and from prayer: will ye not then abstain? **

there is a good verse which translates your question
Mein ye sochtay sochtay thak giya hoon
key mujboor kiya hey, Mukhtar kiya hey

Any how one of the Hazrat Ali’s saying may help in solving your confusion.

“Some one asked Hazrat Ali how much free will and control we have, He answered, that lift your one foot, the man lifted his first foot, then he asked lift your 2nd foot, he said I will now fell down, thent he Greatest of all Imam said thats how much you are given control of yourselves.”
