All you people....

…openin threads after threads about dieting, losing weight and stuff…made me open a thread to cry out loud!
I can not …and absolutely can not gain weight, no matter what!
What should I do?

I do eat a lot. Ok I usually skip my breakfast coz mornings with 3 kids are too busy to sit down n eat something but other than that I eat regularly…oh n not only that I ttend to finish the left overs from my baby girl’s food.I’m not picky n can eat almost everything halal.

I usually don’t care about weight etc. as long as I’m functioning properly but now I’m going to pak in December n I’ll be attending 3 weddings, InshaAllah which m,eans I’ll be questioned over n over ,why I look weak, n why I don’t eat etc. etc. (I dislike those commentaries with a passion)

So is there anything I can do?

btw, My current weight is 48 kg n I’m 5’ 6’'.

Try Ensure](Ensure® Original | Complete Nutrition Shakes | Milk Chocolate). You can buy it from any grocery store. I have personally seen it do wonders.

Shweets....All those old ladies (including my mum n MIL) are jealous of ME??? I doubt it.:)

Femme....I wish there was a way to do that .....n in that case I could've taken 15-20 pounds from dear hubby :D we both are on opposite extremes (acc. to ppl that is!)

I think you should just eat more carbs and lift light weights. It will put some bulk on you … hmmm … you want to put on weight but not get fat. I honestly have no clue. My problem is the opposite.

You have three kids and you are only 106 pounds? Definitely good genes. Your BMI is about 17, which is a little underweight.

Afia, can i be honest with you? It is a very simple formula. Calorie intake has to be greater than calorie loss. Since your metabolism is high, you are always burning more than you are taking in. Excess calorie is what turns into fat.

Always eat a heavy breakfast. That is the KEY. And dont stick to three square meals a day; add one in between lunch and dinner, and call it afternoon-snack. Suggestions: food with a lot of unsaturated fat in it, like cheese and nuts--look at the nutrition label to find out which has a high level of unsaturated fat. Drink at least seven glasses of water aand at least one tall glass of milk and let us know how it goes.
Did i mention physical exercise too? It will increase your appetite.

Normal BMI is 18.5

Ok let's see what I had today!

A glass of milk around 10 in morning n then a full bowl of cereal
shortly after that I had a slice of bread with cream cheese (my daughter didn't like it today so I ate instead!)
Around 11:30 I had a handful of dates with a glass of milk
At 12:30 I had chapatti with some meat curry n salad

At 3:30 I had apple n then some cookies again with some milk
At 6:00 (dinner) some fried chicken n then pasta
after that a bowl of kheer n then all left over kheer from kids bowls

n i'm going to have some milk/bread n cream cheese etc. around 10:00 (almost in 20 minutes)

shouldn't it be enough!

As for exercise ...if regular running after kids, going up n downstairs etcf. doesn't count ...i walk a lot ....when i don't get parking place near school i park it a bi far n walk with my 2 yrs old on my shoulder

I opened somewhat similar thread an year or two ago n somebody suggested getting a thyroid check done....i had it checked n its alright!

sometimes i feel i gain weight by drinking water.... and pms days are horrible for me...

I have no idea…icecream maybe hehe…no but seriously u seem a little underweight…i have a lot of ppl in my family like that too…some have 3 or 4 kids and still r slim and some even look weak…talk to ur doc :slight_smile:

I noticed u eat/drink a lot of dairy products (milk etc.)…so perhaps it’s true that dairy does help ppl manage their weight better…good luck with ur health :blush:

There's a product called "Instant Breakfast" made by Carnation that you can get in the powdered milk aisle in most grocery stores. Its a protein powder that you add to milk, it comes in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. You mix a packet into a glass of milk and its like a high-protein milkshake, really tastes very good too. And instead of a 150 calorie glass of milk, you get a 280-calorie milkshake.

you sound exactly like one of my aunt's. She has been a 100 lbs ever since I've known her. Nothing affects her weight. Think of yourself as blessed :) and enjoy it!

Afia, my opinion is that it’s better to be skinny than to be over weight and obese. So, be happy and enjoy your body type. I wish I had your metabolism. Looking at your menu, I probably eat less than you do and still gain weight.:crying:
