Re: All You Can Eat!
The same can be said about all the khana we make at home, right? Where does it say you have to have pakoray and samosay at iftar?
Re: All You Can Eat!
?
Re: All You Can Eat!
Samoson aur pakoRon kay baghair bhi koi iftaari hoti hai ?
Re: All You Can Eat!
well its better the rich spend and put money into the economy than keep it in their bank accounts. unless their option of not spending the money on food is to donate it to charity, this is the closest thing to charity that benefits a whole chain of others.
Re: All You Can Eat!
I mean clients are bade … log. kaam karwaneke liye ghar tak peecha karenge ’ orry, disturbing you at this time. so to nahin rahe the’. When it comes to payment of our invoices their behavior turned out to be ‘catch me if you can’.
PS: I don’t work for Silani or Edhi. Khairati idara nahin
Re: All You Can Eat!
chiri roza rakhny walay baghair samosy aur pakoray iftar kartay hain
Re: All You Can Eat!
queer pra… I was also going to take discussion in that side (charity). There are same number of boards demanding for charity as the boards for food deals.
Have a look at it:
Tough competition you see. People do contribute to charity and its an attractive opportunity during Ramadan to get funds for such organization.
But Zakat is an obligation in Muslim society. You have to pay it, if you meet certain requirement. That doesn’t absolve someone to be free for spending too much for show-off purposes. There are people in this society who do corruption all the year and then try to make their kaala dhun (black money) white by hosting Iftar parties. Ramadan is not about postponing corruption for one month (which doesn’t stop during Ramadan BTW), its about rectifying your acts, realising that if you are doing something wrong with your fellow human beings.

Re: All You Can Eat!
We haven’t done the whole samosa pakora routine for the last 3 ramzans mainly because of health reasons. We had pasta for iftari yesterday and soup + chaat today. Tomorrow we’ll probably just have roti and salan. And I think it should’ve always been like this at home. I feel like elaborate iftaris sort of take away from the essence of Ramadan. But then, Allah ka diya hua rizq hai, right? Jis ko jitna milla hai wo utna khaye shoq se as long as he’s also giving charity. In Pakistan, my nani maa used to send a plate full of everything we made for iftari to a beggar who used to sit at the corner of the street. Shayad Allah ko yahi baat itni pasand ati hogi k it doesn’t really matter whether you cook samosas for iftari or simply roti.
Re: All You Can Eat!
if one doesn’t curb his/her desires [ALL sorts] during the month of Ramadhan, it’s useless because Allah says he doesn’t need your hunger…it’s best to attain piety and righteousness in this Holy month of Ramadhan.

anyways I don’t like going to restaurants in Ramadan, it takes away the spirit of Ramadan. But people go and they have lots of parties. I think it’s inner thing that matters. We have donate a bag type things going in our community where you can sponsor a family and feed them whole ramadan. We buy groceries for them, and give them cash for day to day. Pakistani people should do things like that.

Re: All You Can Eat!
This year I have asked the home chef to cut samosaas and pakoRaas from the iftaari menu and keep it simple.
Trying to cut down on grains and other carbs.

Re: All You Can Eat!
I like what UZ baji said…I think there should be more of that rather than spending on Iftar or sehri buffets for yourself
Re: All You Can Eat!
At my masjid, there is community iftar/dinner, every friday/sat/sunday. 5 families sign up to sponsor each day. In the past, leftovers have just been divvied up among the hosting families or their friends, but for the past couple of years, I have spearheaded a campaign with our youth group to deliver the leftovers to Muslim refugees in our city the next day. There is a Somali sister who works with refugee families that I was put in touch with, and she said that she has anywhere from 30-50 families at a given time to help feed. So now we deliver the leftovers to her and she then portions them out for families and takes it to whomever is in need.
Re: All You Can Eat!
This leftover thing remind me that in places where this ‘all you can eat’ type deals are given, people eat food in a strange way. Like in Pizza, they eat center part and leave corners (which is simple bred without stuffing). Some people also complains that Pizza Hut’s quality has declined specially when they offer such deals. Sometimes, people fill their plates top to bottom, which they can’t consume just to recover the price they pay. Result is wastage of food.
Re: All You Can Eat!
If I could get all you can eat iftar, I’d try it at least once in a Ramadan. I just don’t know of any reliable halal places that have it.
