I agree with you Lusi. On the one hand change is good, on the other hand if it ain't broke then don't fix it. There is no point in having change just for the sake of change. There needs to be some logic behind the change. I would suggest having focus group input before making changes. There is no rhythm or rhyme behind some changes.
just because we may not know the logic behind it doesnt mean there is no logic.
Regardless of the name (which i think is kinda bland), its a very good initiative. I think some parts of GS had become “mod clubs” and posts deleted right and left. Most people come here to have fun not to deal with others’ problems or to feed their egos. I think we can finally get back to having fun and start posting like we used to
Anyways before this turns anymore sappy, just wanted to tell you, good job guys :k:

One is justified is saying something is logical provided one can formulate an argument that supports it. Logic is normally obvious and it should be obvious to the end user in this case.
In this case the fact is that 'General' has been changed to 'All Views'. There may well be perceived 'valid' reasons behind it. It could be an attempt to rebrand and differentiate the forum from the previous 'General', or even to create an 'Unplugged' brand within a brand.
However the reasons behind the change are not apparent to the users, and it takes them away from something that they were familiar and content with. Just as people like change, people are creatures of habit and also dislike change. The change needs to be beneficial to the end users or the website otherwise it is best avoided.

but sometimes you dont see the logic behind things right away....it takes time and patience and in the end you go...."OH! that makes sense now"
If I were to give my thoughts in couple of lines, then I would say:
“It’s an attempt to reconnect to the past - which has been burried under the passing time bringing lot of constraints on the screen - thus constraint on the users of the sites :)”
People from that very past would know what I am talking about.
so you also extract truth from [hypothetical] assumptions?
The truth is not the truth if the assumptions are untrue...or turn out to be not true. Therefore you cannot extract truth from assumptions but only from truth itself and certain premises.
Reasoning is drawing inference from information (facts). Inference allows us to move the previous knowledge to new knowledge without the loss of truth.
If you need any further clarification then just email me.
Sounds good but there needs to be some major break from the previous forum for the better, otherwise just changing names is not going to do much. Best of luck!
