I think Murali being best is gonna create lots of Controversy.

Even I wouldnot put him ahead of Hadlee.
Also S Waugh is a notable absentee from best Test batsman's list.he is definitly better than Border.

Rest is ok.

........and what happened to him on South Africa tour?

Bad Tour.

Murali...is nothing but a watta bowler.

He's only good on Asian pitches....out side Asia he is nothing but ordinary.

As far as being the best is concerned...Shane Warne is the Man...Murali is no where close to him.

I really doubt Wisden's wisdom....
Murali is One of the most controversial bowler in the histroy of cricket.
and they selected him as one of the best.... He must have bribed them for sure..
he is a stupid jerk bowler, if you want any prove then go and watch the test match in which YoYo made 86 in there last tour of pakistan.( pakistan Lost that match)
you will have all the idea, he was bowling like a streety Watta ..
ager Mokaa miljataa, to Murali to gaya thaa oss din(honestly)
Wisden ppl are also jerks like him :(

Hair or No Hair, Murali's balls are good!

I can see all ultey seedhey batsmen in the list but Miandad and Waugh. If not Bradman he was for sure the class of Border and Sobers.

Batsmen like Kallis, D.Jones and Ganguly are in top 10 ODI batsmen and Miandad is not there who was the best thing that happend to ODI cricket in late 80s.

Also no Wasim Akram in top 10 Test bowles ?? :smash:
How do they decide the ratings ? by blind draw or what ? Whats their criteria of defining **most influential ** ??

Re: Murali is the best!!!!!!!!

Personally I have doubt on these guys......

Richards, Wasim best ever one-day players - Wisden
14 December 2002

Viv Richards and Wasim Akram have been named as the top one-day players in history by cricket bible Wisden.

The rankings of the 50 best batsmen and bowlers in limited overs cricket was published on Saturday, a day after the release of a list of the best 100 of each in Tests - Australian Don Bradman and Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan taking the honours there.

Richards, who accumulated 6,721 runs in 167 one-day innings, was third behind Bradman and Sachin Tendulkar in Wisden’s Test rankings but leapfrogs the Indian into first place with his fellow West Indian Brian Lara in third.

Bradman does not appear in the list because the shorter version of the game was not played in his day, but Muralitharan is rated as the seventh best bowler.

Fast bowler Wasim’s 488 wickets in limited-overs matches gives him 220 more than South African Allan Donald in second place, while his fellow Pakistani Waqar Younis is third in the list ahead of Australia’s Glenn McGrath.

Wasim, who was ranked 15th in the Test list, became the first man to play in 350 one-day internationals earlier this month and has said he intends to retire after the World Cup in southern Africa early next year.

The ratings were based on a thorough anaylsis of one-day internationals since their inception in the 1970s, with runs scored and wickets taken accorded greater or lesser weight depending on the quality of opposition and the importance of the match.

The minimum criteria for each category was at least 2,500 runs scored and 100 wickets taken, which means that few players from the earliest era of the limited overs game made the lists.

Given the proliferation of one-day cricket in recent years, the list more accurately reflects the modern balance of power within the game.

While the Test lists had only two active batsmen - Tendulkar and Lara (10) - and active three bowlers - Muralitharan, Warne and McGrath (6), most of those highly-ranked in one-dayers are still playing.

And while England was well represented in the Test rankings, they have just four batsmen and three bowlers in the top 50 one-day lists.

Batsmen:

  1. Viv Richards (West Indies) 2. Sachin Tendulkar (India) 3. Brian Lara (West Indies) 4. Dean Jones (Australia) 5. Michael Bevan (Australia) 6. Sourav Ganguly (India) 7. Mark Waugh (Australia) 8. Zaheer Abbas (Pakistan) 9. Jacques Kallis (South Africa) 10. Saeed Anwar (Pakistan)

Bowlers: 1. Wasim Akram (Pakistan) 2. Allan Donald (South Africa) 3. Waqar Younis (Pakistan) 4. Glenn McGrath (Australia) 5. Joel Garner (West Indies) 6. Saqlain Mushtaq (Pakistan) 7. Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka) 8. Shaun Pollock (South Africa) 9. Shane Warne (Australia) 10. Dennis Lillee

well done pakistan!

Javed miandad is a Must in one day game rankings beaucse he was the one who introduced the importance of singles and rotation of strike !

:hehe:

This has to be a joke, no Javed Miandad in the list!
I can't believe Ganguly got picked over Miandad, he should be atleast in the top 3.

No Gavasker either first man to score 10,000 runs in TEST.

How is Jacques Kallis in the top 10 list in batsman.
I take that he is a great allrounder and the 2nd greatest after Imran but if you take apart his batting and bowling individually, he shouldn't be even considered in the top 30.

If he is so good, than why isn't he a threat to the Pakistani bowlers.

Wisden is stupid.
