so now lets talk about the initiation. The initiation is a ritual , same ritual that every other member of the fraternity has gone through, it is supposed to be meaningful, somwhat esoteric and focuses heavily on the principles of the fraternity.
The type of crap that pledges went through is not part of initiation, and is strongly dscouraged. It still happens but is not accepted and any chapter involved in hazing will have its charter withdrawn by the national HQ, and booted off by the university as well.
