All these whitening creams......

Re: All these whitening creams......

I had afreind who used Betnovet cream, her skin is horrible now. The formula creams (where you mix a lot of oher creams with a steroid cream like Betnovit) are bad but Fair and Lovely etc. not as much.

Re: All these whitening creams......

okay to address the bit about people working in salons not having great skin themselves...

i test products on my face (i know its bad) all the time before i recommend or sell to others...at times i break out because of it. i also broke out quite a bit in the beginning because my sister and i were doing facials on each other constantly for practice. both of us had dry hair because we were blow drying each other three times a week.

and not everyone that works in a salon (the woman who shampoos your hair or the lady who swept the floor) is a qualified expert on what they're selling you nadz...them standing in a salon means nothing.

there is danger to them...a lot of these creams come with warnings and some are even banned/not allowed in the US. i know one of the creams mentioned is a thai formula and its not sold here because of its mercury content.

about those women who are sooo beautiful after using these creams...im sure they are. im sanwali...will always be that way. i CAN easily bleach my face if i want to...i have access to everything i need to do it. i could easily do a full body bleach if i wanted to. but i won't...because i don't want to wake up one day not being me. i could permanently get rid of my curls...but i won't...no matter how hard they are to manage...because its who i am.

when you speak of hyperpigmentation, discoloration, acne, rosacea, blemishes, scars of the skin, i get it. but if you're here to tell girls "ladies, its totally okay to want to be fair! i get it and let's start a movement against all of these women who want to tell us we are beautiful the way we are"...wrong place.

like there aren't enough problems.

Re: All these whitening creams......

this makes me so sad.. all of my brown friends desperately want to have lighter skin and all of my white friends go fake tanning so they're darker! we all have have things we might want to change about ourselves (mental, physical, whatever) but we really need to work on accepting ourselves for who we are. we tell everyone else how beautiful they are but fail to see it in ourselves. i wish there was a simple fix for this!

Re: All these whitening creams......

I don't think there's anything wrong with experimenting with different looks or even going further and changing them as long as it isn't taken too seriously and ending up as an all-consuming thing.. If girls want to bleach there's nothing wrong with that in itself (when done safely) but the problems come when society only wants to accept that there's ONLY that one type of look that should be considered attractive.. I'm very pro-surgery and have always thought each to their own but ppl should only do these things for themselves, not because they feel pressured by family, inlaws or anyone else.. Btw this isn't aimed at anyone, I mean in general and as I said if girls want to lighten their skin and are doing it carefully as just a cosmetic thing (the way many white girls like to tan) I don't think it's a big deal..

Re: All these whitening creams......

blesso, stillmans, fair and lovely, archi, vit e capsules.
add betnovate only if u have acne issues.

Re: All these whitening creams…

Please do not add betnovate without a doctors advice.

It can make your acne worse.

Re: All these whitening creams......

I dont know what betnovate cream you guys are talking about, but here in the UK it is used for skin conditions like excema.
I would be extremely careful about using this as a skin whitening cream,as it will over time cause thinning of the skin.

Re: All these whitening creams......

and thats how it should be used. In pakistan there is craze to use steroids as a whitening cream! its silly!

Re: All these whitening creams......

Why do ppl use the steroids? To speed up the process or make it more effective?

They could just use Retin-A (but then again it might not be practical in hot climates as it makes the skin so much more sun sensitive)..

Re: All these whitening creams......

I wanna use these whitening creams.

Re: All these whitening creams......

**Just like our finger prints, no ones skin is the same. What works on one person may or may not work on another.

Other than that, I'm going to go ahead an agree with CEO about all of this.
We should be happy with how Allah (swt) made us.
Who are we trying to change our selves for? Acceptance? If you say "I'm doing it so I have more confidence in my self", that's wrong. At least in my opinion.
I'm not overly religious, but I do believe that we were all born a certain way. And it's not our right to alter our appearance..

Also, yes, although men are not the only ones to blame, and yes, we have come a long way and are becoming more of an educated society, but the stigma of "the perfect appearance" still haunts our communities.
The concept of beauty is not what a person or persons' character or personality is, but it is judged based on their height, weight, features, skin color, et cetra.

Baishak ab log hai jo in battao ko nehe sauch thay, laikin meray khyal se, larkiyo pe aj bhi ye force kiya jata hai k "patli raho! apni skin na kharab honay do! clear/ fair complexion hona chaheye! nehe to rishta nehe millay gae!"

It's sad, but it's some what instilled in a lot of peoples minds. And then people come over seas and face identity crisis.

I'm not going to sit here and try and convince anyone to or not to do something that they wish. I'm just sharing my opinion :)

I'll shut up now :p**

Re: All these whitening creams…

PS… Strong points, CEO! :k:

Re: All these whitening creams......

Is it really necessary to have fair complexion, I think people with Tan/ Wheatish complexion look more attractive.

Re: All these whitening creams......

And the horrendous effects which are swooned over by those dermas in all the morning shows? Like thinning and peeling of skin, rapid growth of facial hair and vein visibility post the usage of these formula creams?

Can anyone shed light thereon please?
