I cant enjoy any of that , I feel the taste is too strong to let go .. when ever I go to Pakistan , husband runs around enjoying all the desi food …while I keep getting scared of the food !
My husband loves desi stuff.. my MIL sent us desi ghee as soon as I found out about pregnancy.. I hate the taste of it but my husband enjoys his paratha with desi gheee every week!
Desi anday.. I like them because I grew up eating them in Pakistan.. and also here we get the eggs from the nearby farm.. it's expensive but tastes much better than the so called organic eggs out there!
Desi chicken.. I once had to make it in Pakistan.. that thing takes forever to cook.. didnt enjoy much but husband loves it!
same thing with milk.. in Pakistan it has to come from the trustworthy dodh wala but here we just buy the local farm milk... it's pasteurized and packaged but tastes better than the regular supermarket milk!
i really did not like desi ghee at all, but few weeks ago i had maash daal with desi ghee tarka at a get together, it was soooooooooooo yummy, still think about that and want to have it again.
i grew up on buffalo milk, when i was kid i use to have 1/2 litre raw milk every day(hated taste of boil milk at that time and now cant have raw milk) and i think tea taste much better with buffalo milk, when ever i come back from Pakistan hate taste of tea with cow's milk.
ita all about developing the taste be it desi stuff or be it non desi stuff.
Allah maaf karey, I spitted out the tuna sandwich when I had it for the first time (hmmm around 15 years ago), but now quiznoz is one of my fav lunch spot.
Once you are out of touch, its little hard to get back into pure desi taste. Like in my case, I can never drink the tea that I used to drink in in Pakistan. Also, last time I was there, eggs tasted so bleghh ...
But if I don't like something and won't eat it then how can I develop a taste for it? I never liked Tuna and won't taste it in any shape or form. I know sometimes people start liking things that they did't eat before and start hating things they used to like.
It's ok not to like tuna -- it is bad for your health. High in mercury and other heavy metals. So much so that it is recommended that pregnant women not eat it at all. Now, given that heavy metals accumulate in the body, why would anyone, pregnant or not, expose themselves to ingesting mercury when they have a choice?
So don't feel bad about not liking tuna. I don't like it either.
oh…i LOVE desi doodh in India…the milk that is boiled overnight on low heat which turn brownish…with a layer of malaaii on it…amazingly GREAT! it’s called kaRaah par kaa doodh…it taste best in kullhaRs
I hate the milk there and desi ghee, but what I hate even more is someone calling me an ABCD or "confused" just because I don't like certain things. i've never called someone who hated non-desi food a paindu fob so...yeah.
there are certain desi stuff i like and there are some i dislike. I LOOOVVE desi ghee k paratha with a cup of tea, yummm
I had desi boiled eggs once, and i really liked it, desi chicken was delicious! and i think i ate brain once too lol but i dont remember if i liked it or not, i took it because it looked like scrambled eggs. But then mom told me it was brain I absolutely hate milk in pakistan oh and butter too
yeah…there is this ‘foreign’ smell there…like the kinda smell you will find in a desi dairy farms [mild gobar-ish smell…hehe]..it’s quite a turn off but i drink it for the taste of it…malaaiii yum yum!
