all that glitters is ... in fashion?

What do you guys think of the latest glitter craze? These days, girls go to the darzi to get kaam done on their kameez and pants and dupattas - sequins, glittery taar or dhaaga, chamak material, shiny beads, etc…

I thought the material was interesting. Pretty color too.

simple, but elegant - the charm is in the material rather than the kaam.

very gaudy…but its wild and crazy, dont ya think? Of course, like all the other dresses, this would look great with sleeves.

very charming/traditional, yet its new. The kaam is done on the borders of the red dupatta, and there is more borderwork done on the back of the dress. The flowers in her hair accent the work done on the back, and there you have something classy, yet different.

I saw so much of this type of design…the darzi will “spot” the material with dots made of sequins or beads, or a funkey combination of them. You can make this radiating dots type design, and other types also…I wanted to get something like this made (w/sleeves probably) but never got a chance to.

Haha, I can already hear the "hai, how revealing" comments. The aspect of the dress I found interesting was the sleaves...forget the rest of the outfit: its cheap. But I've seen this design for the sleeves. The darzi cuts a hole in the sleeve of any shape you want, and then strings beads across, like that. There are a variety of designs you can use, and create yourself.

I thought this stuff was pretty original, no?

Girls, I dont see how this could look bad if you tagged sleeves on and if you made the shirt longer.

A banarsi dupatta on a velvel suit - very pretty.

I think the gold one is really pretty.:)

PCG, that’s just lovely!!
I especially like the banarsi dupatta with the purple shaneel. That looks very classy :k:

I got myself a magazine from the UK and there are some lovely designsin it aswell.. I’ll try to scan some and post it.

It's quite funky, I quite like it, although I'm more of a simple, cotton shalwar kameezes type of person. :)

^^:k:

lovely

finally - some approval!

Cat - I posted some classy outfits over in daywear...they're quite simple, see if you can pick up some ideas there.

Gamma: I'm glad I was of service to you.

Shinoo - I recently made a lovely purple velvet shalwaar kameez - the velvet was glittery, and then on the dupatta, I had gold embroidered dots put on it - I think we memons call it "baadla" kaam, and I think there's another name for it in urdu.

PCG, I love the stuff you post.. it all looks beautiful!

Colourful oranges, greens and reds are really in this summer, there is this material called 'khaddi' a khadar-cotton mix, which has some really funky designs in many beautiful colour combinations which was quite in, in Lahore.
