I was just wondering why so many (all?) religions reject the idea that all the faiths are ultimately different paths leading to one supreme truth?
I mean why should oneone be punished for adhering to a religious path which is the cultural or societal norm for them, who do not know alternatives, surely God is not the type of Bloke to worry about small details?
As words they are beautiful. But sadly people seem unable to live by them. I am not here saying that Islam is not true, but only that whatever the truth is, there is no need to fight over it. Perhaps God will accept all people who turn to Him sincerely, thus it is up to us to just live and let live, in peaceful co-existance, and let God sort it all out.
We all know however that mankinds inability to look past communal differences has led to great suffering and forced the hands of many actors in the ages.
If you’re suggesting that everyone should be treated equally in the hereafter regardless of their actions in this life, I really don’t know what to say to you.
During a tafseer session, once the orator was explaining an ayah (I currently do not remember which one). That particular ayah was talking about the same thing but the context was totally opposite on the other side of the 180 degree angle.
Somewhere in Quran, it is truely said that the Original and only religion was One Islam, but then people deviated and formed their own religions with the wrong mixture of beliefs that lead to WRONG paths. So, yes all religions other than Islam are the deviated ones and once were the right path in themselves but not anymore.
I can only recall one ayah at the mo which may fit somehow in the above explanation:
16:22 **Your Allah is one Allah. as to those who believe not in the Hereafter, their hearts refuse to know, and they are arrogant. **
The Holy Quran says that all the prophets were true because they were sent by the same God to different races and people. The Holy Quran reaffirms the original truths of other revealed Books and the Muslims are admonished to believe in all other prophets in the same manner as they believe in their own Prophet.
Mankind was one single nation, and Allah sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings; and with them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except through selfish contumacy. Allah by His Grace Guided the believers to the Truth, concerning that wherein they differed. For Allah guided whom He will to a path that is straight.
rivkz: you miss the whole point. Jesus is also a prophet in Islam but christianity is not the way of Jesus in Islam either.
saimanyc: Islam is not 1400 or so years old. It is there since Adam:as:
