This will be my first Eid all alone. My family and in-laws live in a different city (about a 5 hour drive away), and my husband HAS to work tomorrow. I asked him a while ago to take Eid off, but because of his work, he said there was no way he could take work off. We are quite new to this town, so dont have any really close friends that I could hang out with tomorrow.
So basically, I will be home alone all day tomorrow. It wont even feel like Eid for me. I feel like crying.
is there anyhthing you can do that can make the day special/a little out of the ordinary? Dress up a little bit, eat something indulgent, call up friends etc?
Don’t worry. it’s just one day, inshallah you’ll have many more fun Eids.
My mom sent me a new suit to wear on Eid, so I can dress up and wear that, but there just seems like there is no point, as I will be sitting at home all day long :(
I will be calling my parents/family/friends after they do nimaaz. Also calling my FIL - but my MIL is gone to Pakistan, and they are doing Eid on Saturday, so we will be calling her on Saturday.
I spent 3 years of eids alone. But I would always go to the eid prayers because really thats the main component of eid so try and find your local mosque and go. You can even dress up if you want, I usually go in my work clothes but a significant number of women are dressed to the nines.
I would have gone to the mosque, but unfortunately right now we only have one car, and my husband leaves for work at 4:30 in the morning. I have met a lot of aunties in the masjid when I go for jumma and also last Eid.
There is an Eid dinner tonight, and we have bought tickets for that, but I will see what time my husband gets home. If he gets home too late, he will be too tired to go, plus he is on call tomorrow, so I dont want to make him go out tonight, and then be really tired at work tomorrow.
Don't worry you weren't the only one. My husband and I are living alone too both our families lives in another country we don't have anyone here. Its my first eid ever which I have to spend alone since my husband was working yesterday.
