**HOW TO APPLY BB CREAM:

**BB cream, also known as Blemish Balm Cream is the hottest new thing in makeup and skin care. It started popping up in the US recently, but has been a smash hit in Asia for years. (Decades, even!) (What is BB Cream?)
BB cream can be used as a highlighter, primer, moisturizer, foundation, concealer and facial sunscreen. With many BB creams having a great SPF level and the ability to conceal and cover-up imperfections, we recommend trying one. Think of it as a tinted moisturizer on drugs. So much more than a tinted moisturizer!
If you’re new to BB cream, you might be wondering just how to use it, so we put together 7 tips for BB cream to help you apply properly and get the most out of your BB cream. Know that no BB cream is exactly like the next one. Some are matte; some are illuminating. Some are colorless; some add color. Some give full coverage; some give just a hint of coverage.
No matter what it says on the bottle, use a moisturizer first. A lot of the BB creams say that it can be your moisturizer + foundation, but we suggest you put on an initial base of moisturizer first, especially if you have dry skin. When we skipped moisturizer, our skin felt dry and flaky. You might be able to get away with just this if you have oily skin, but normal to dry should use a moisturizer.
Sponges or brushes aren’t necessary. Go with your fingers when you apply BB cream. We found it the easiest way to get an even and natural look. Dot on your skin and then blend in.
Start by using it as a concealer. Where on your skin do you need to cover-up? Blemishes or scars visible? BB cream does a great job at concealing under eye circles, too! Dot on a little BB cream and blend in. After making sure it’s set, apply BB cream to the rest of your face for great coverage.
Set with powder. Once your BB cream is applied and dry (it can take a minute or two to lose the tackiness feeling) set with powder for best results. Note that some brands have been reported to not last all day. Setting with powder and keeping your hands off of your face (a habit so many people have) will help if you find this problem.

If you have darker skin tone, mix with foundation. In Asia, we found that many of the BB creams come in one color: light. This is because unlike in the US and its love of tan skin, light, almost white skin, is considered beautiful. Skin lightening products are in high demand. Thankfully, the US has many more options for those with darker skin color, but if you just can’t find one that doesn’t lighten your skin too much, mix a few drops of your foundation in. You’ll still get the benefits of the BB cream with a shade to better suite your skin.

Don’t overpay! When we were in Seoul, we picked up one of the higher priced BB creams and it was only just under $25 and came highly recommended. In the US, we’re finding many priced high simply because of demand. (3Lab’s is $95 for 1.5 ounces!) Consider finding a site that ships international and using an Asian BB cream if you don’t find one you love with a price you love.
If you don’t like your first one, keep trying. Samples are always a great way to try out a product if you can find them, but do your research and check online reviews. Make sure you think ahead how much coverage you want, if you want the BB cream to illuminate your skin or leave it matte, etc… After falling in love with BB cream, we’re certain that if you find the right one for your skin, you’ll love it, too!

7 QUESTIONS ABOUT FOUNDATIONS :.

Foundation is pretty tricky. It's hard to find something that works, it's hard to make it look good, and it's hard to make it last. When it comes to makeup, I always have the most questions about foundation itself, and I figured a lot of other women must feel the same way. So, I found 7 common questions about foundations and some answers that I hopewill be helpful!
1. FOUNDATIONS FOR DRY SKIN

I have really dry skin in the winter, so I'm always wary about wearing liquid based foundations. However, if you find a foundation that uses moisturizer or has the word “moisture” anywhere on the bottle or in the title, you should be good to go. Furthermore, you may want to avoid any of those foundations that say they contain minerals, because they can make your skin dry out even more.
2. GETTING A FLAWLESS FOUNDATION

Another common problem with foundation is making it look perfect. You don't want a lot of streaks and shadows and makeup lines, after all. One thing you can do is find a facial primer, so that you can make your skin even, creating a perfect surface canvas for your foundation. You also need to make sure that your fingers, sponge, or brush are clean. However, it's a good idea to use your fingers, because they're warm, which can make blending easier.
3. KEEPING FOUNDATION AROUND

It's hard to tell how long you should keep your foundation, because it's not really like mascara. It doesn't start to clump up really badly when it's ready to be tossed out and replaced. Powder can last a really long time, but liquid foundations can actually stay good for around a year. You should give it a sniff every once in a while though. If it starts to smell funny, it definitely needs replaced.
4. FOUNDATIONS FOR OILY SKIN

If you have an oily complexion, then you may have experienced the awfulness of having your foundation get all runny. In this case, its better to go for a foundation with matte qualities, because it will soak up any extra oil in your skin. That Dream Matte Mousse is one such product; it should make oily skin look oilier.
5. QUESTIONS OF COVER UP

Cover up sticks count as foundation, at least in my book. They cover up under eye circles and other blemishes. Here's a trick, though, if you've found that yours doesn't really cover up anything. Use your base foundation first, and then dot your cover up on your face, after which comes your powder. I started doing that, and my cover up stick works better than it ever has.
6. MOUSSE, POWDER, OR LIQUID

When it comes to choosing a foundation, it really depends on the quality of your skin. If you have oily skin, for instance, then liquid foundation isn't going to be a great idea. Mousse may not be great for dry skin, because the flakes of skin can show up through the foundation. However, if you abhor heavy makeup, then you can just stick to powder, which brings me to--
7. ALL OR NOTHING

Do you have to wear everything, from cover up to mousse or liquid foundation to powder? Absolutely not! I don't want to do anything to my skin right now but moisturize it. I mean, no liquid or mousse foundations; I'm giving them up for the season. I've found that putting on a layer of powder, then doing my cover up routine, then putting on one more layer of powder offers the perfect balance. All my blemishes are taken care of, I have a good base for the rest of my makeup, everything is blended well, and it's not too heavy!

Makeup is intensely personal. Different things will work well (or badly) for every individual. It really all comes down to what makes you feel good about yourself – even if that means wearing no makeup at all. What makes you feel your most beautiful?

A Trick for Complete Coverage

Even the best liquid foundation won’t give you a flawless complexion unless it’s well blended. To make color melt into your skin, dab it on with a dampened synthetic makeup sponge, says San Francisco makeup artist Emily Warren. Wet the sponge, then squeeze until it’s almost dry. Next, dispense foundation onto the back of your hand, press the sponge into it, and apply wherever you want coverage.

RIGHT SHADE OF FOUNDATION:

Foundation is one of the most well known and popular cosmetic choices, many women feel much more confident and find they look much healthier and more wide awake after foundation application. If you don't have perfect skin foundation can help cover up problem areas and even out skin tone however finding the right shade of foundation for your skin tone can often be daunting. Women often make mistakes when picking the right foundations and can end up with a foundation too light or dark for the face, vampire or orange effect. Below are some tips to help avoid these mistakes and help your skin look the best it possibly can!-:

1) The first thing to do is to determine the undertone of your skin, are you cool or warm? One way to successfully test this is called the 'vein test'. Take a look at your upper arm, if the veins you can see are more of a blueish color you are a cool undertone and if they are more greenish you are a warm undertone. The majority of people are usually warm toned and most foundations are labelled accordingly.

2) Unless you are either incredibly fair or cool toned, foundations with a pinkish undertone are not advised as the end result often looks unflattering and unnatural. Yellow foundations are usually more universally flattering.

3) The best way to choose whether your chosen foundation is actually the right shade for you or not is to actually try on the product! In the same way you would try on a dress before buying it, it's crucial to do the same with your foundation!

(4)Apply three different shades which you have chosen which seem the closest to your skin tone. Apply these in vertical strips from your cheekbone to your jawbone.

5) The foundation which 'disappears' into your skin is the right shade for you!

6) Whilst searching for your foundation avoid testing on your arm, wrist or hand as these areas are often a different shade from your face.

How to Find Your Undertone and Choose the Right Foundation
by JILL RUSSELL

Finding the right shade of base to match your complexion always seems like a daunting task. And according to Jamie Greenberg, a celebrity makeup artist for Mark., most of us aren’t wearing the right color anyway. Often foundations and concealers prompt you to choose a shade based on your undertone, especially when shopping online. But if you don’t know what your undertone is, that isn’t much help!
An undertone is the color that's just beneath the skin, and while your skin tone can change (over time, with sun exposure, etc.), the undertone does not. Foundations usually come recommended for one of three undertone types: “cool,” “neutral,” or “warm.” It’s possible, though, to fall somewhere in between (you could be “neutral-warm,” for instance). To get you closer to finding the perfect match, we asked Greenberg to outline how to figure out your undertone. Note, these same principles apply on all skin tones, from very fair to dark. And remember, if you're having trouble DIY’ing it, you can always ask a professional makeup artist for a skin analysis.
Those with cool undertones will notice their skin has a pink, red, or blue tinge to it.
You have a “cool” undertone if:
• If the veins on your wrist are blue or purple
• If silver jewelry flatters your skin more than gold
• When you look at your skin in the sun, it appears blue-ish
If you have neutral undertones, your skin is neither pink/red/blue nor yellow/gold/peach, but somewhere in between.
You have a “neutral” undertone if:
• The veins on your wrist are blue-green
• Both gold and silver jewelry flatter your skin
• When you look at your skin in the sun, it appears greenish
Those with warm undertones will notice their skin has a yellow, gold, or peach tinge to it.
You have a “warm” undertone if:
• The veins on your wrist are slightly green or olive
• Gold jewelry flatters your skin more than silver
• When you look at your skin in the sun, it appears yellowish
Three More Tips for Finding the Right Foundation
So now you know your undertone, you can start to narrow the field. If you’re trying foundations in a store, here are Greenberg’s three tips to help you find the right one.
1: Prep Skin First
Before you do anything, exfoliate and moisturize your skin. “Slough off those dead skin cells and prepare that canvas so it can honestly accept color,” says Greenberg. “If your skin is sweaty or isn't totally clean, the color won't be accurate!”
2: Test in Good Lighting
Make sure you test your foundation in good lighting. It's always a good idea to first test it out in one location, and then go somewhere else with different lighting to see if it still matches. And make sure you're wearing white, as other colors might alter your tone. Greenberg warns that you should never try to correct your color with a base. “It's best to match your undertone, and then if you feel pale, you can always add bronzer or blush for dimension,” she says.
3: Match The Color You See Most
There are three parts of the body you have to think about: the face, the neck, and the décolletage—and Greenberg points out that all of these can differ. “The most natural thing would be to match your neck, but because of sun exposure and elements, the face/décolletage are often darker than your neck,” she says. To even things out, Greenberg suggests choosing a product that matches the color you see the most, and then applying base to the face and neck so that you get even color all over.

**What is a face prime, or what is prime makeup?

**Just like you prime a wall before you paint it, you can prime your face before you apply foundation. Primers work much like a moisturizer under your foundation does: they ease the application of foundation and are meant to create a barrier between foundation and skin.

Moisturize, prep & prime!

There is nothing worse than makeup streaks, faded makeup, and wastes of foundation. These are just a few cons of not wearing any makeup primer. Primers are extremely important, whether it’s an eye shadow primer or a face primer. Many of you may be asking, what is a face primer, or what is primer makeup? Well I’m here to help you! A primer is the base to your foundation. Having a face primer allows your foundation to last longer and allows your makeup to sit for a longer period of time.
When applying your makeup primer, make sure to apply it after your moisturizer. Then briefly put the primer on your fingers or makeup sponge, and gently apply it on your face.

9 of the best makeup primers:
1- MAC prep + prime
2- Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion
3- Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation primer
4- Shiseido Refining Makeup Primer
5- Too Faced Prime and Poreless Bronzed Tint
6- Bare Minerals BareVitamins Prime Time Foundation Primer
7- Benefit “that gal” Brightning Face Primer
8- Ulta Faboulous Face Foundation Primer
9- Almay Smart Shade Perfect & Correct Primer
3 of the best eyeshadow primers:
1- Urban Decay Eyeshadow primers
2- NYX HD Eyeshadow Base
3- L’oreal De-Crease Eyeshadow Base

Primers have become hugely popular in the past few years.
makeup artists swear primers go one step further than moisturizers, they help your makeup stay on longer and some help even out your skin tone.

Wow amazing primer
I'm big fan of primers
Their silky pink primer takes your complexion from dull to darling! Simply blend it on for the look of brighter, smoother skin. Contains light-reflecting pigments to help brighten all skin tones and raspberry & chamomile to soothe skin.
		How to Apply
Twist the base until the primer is distributed on the top. Apply with fingertips or a foundation brush onto the face and then blend upwards until it disappears. Wear alone or under makeup for smoother makeup application. Gently pat on during the day to re-brighten your complexion.
