although i think that this 2 party thing is a little narrow focused, a good start but we should have ppl from other schools of thought there too, not just shia and sunni, sub groups, other faiths, other schools of thought.

This is a great start though i think as we move forard they should expand the scope.

It’s difficult to absorb for us that Aalims from different schools of thoughts (or faith) can sit and talk together in a civilized manner. Aaalim online was the first program to do so. Before aalim online, religious programs were used to be so boring that no one used to watch that. If now you are watching the program (and even though you don’t like the clothing of the host) you should be appreciating the concept and service this program is doing.

As Fraudia has suggested, try to watch an episode or two of ALIF. You will understand the concept better.

well first of all there are other schools of thought too, even within shia and sunnis, lets hear all views.

as a future expansion fo scope having ppl from other faiths there will also help ppl learn.

knowledge is the goal here innit?

its not that this is misleading show its that how much we believe in these beard men whom we called mullas(as we have made them some kind of prophtes that we thing they cannot be wrong)
i also watch this program and i found lots of wrong and misleading answar are given by these beard men.
if u really want to know and wants to follow correct path of islam read "Quran" and "Hadis" your self with the tranlsation with good will Allah will help you to understand islam.
ofcourse which you will never do.
this us who we have made islam is property of these beard people and we dont have time to study it.
yes ofcourse we do have time to watch 3hrs indian movie.

yes since u mentioned that.. it is a good point.. along with such sunni alims.. he brigns on shia alims who follow fiqh e jaffariya… and other shia “aalims” who i would not really consider aalims in the first place…

thats why i said.. they should bring on qaualified.. or shall i say truly recognized aalims… instead of aalims jsut by name…

So you are objecting to him bringing in Shia alims who follow the Fiqh-e-Jafriya, and other Shia alims as well?

did anyone see the episode where this man called in and said his wife preformed some kind of black magic and when she went to hajj she couldnt see the kabba, and one of the alims said he should divorce her because she wasnt a muslim. my aunt told me about it and there was a lot of controversy around it and geo later denied the episode ever exsisted. i dont like the host he bothers me.

On 7 Sep 2008, alim online had an exclusive show on Ahmadiyya community. A mullah revised the fatwah's of qatl etc etc. The same day, the Ameer of Jamaat Ahmadiyya Mirpur khas was murdered in cold blood. Well done!

I think any program that allows a discussion between diff schools of thoughts in a civilized manner is to be appreciated. we may find out that we are not really that diff or at minimum understand why people have certain beliefs and whether or not one thinks the other is right or wrong, with knowledge may come understanding. Something we desparately need.

I have also watched the program alif, and am glad the programs like this are on TV.

exactly!! we as a nation are overly critical...we should appreciate the fact that finally we have open discussions on religion, it truly clears up so many misunderstandings and myths ppl have created. don't just linger on the negative.

u guys r exgatering everything.. amir liaqat is doing a good job mashala, i personally feel i have learnt alot from him. its apni apni opnion i guess, but i feel he is doing xcellent job, and if u really bothered abpout him, why u watch the channel for huh?
