Ali Zafar: Masty will follow Channo
Usman Khan
LAHORE: Our very own Channo singer is back! And this time the pop singer, Ali Zafar, will bring more masti and fun through his latest songs as his second album Masty has been launched in Pakistan.
The singer showed his new video of Hein Masti Kai Din Chalo Jhoomein Gayein Hum to the mediapersons during a press conference which was held at the Alhamra Cultural Complex here.
Ali, who reached at the zenith of his career just after the release of his first song Channo, is planning ruling the market once again. Ali, who started just three years ago, said that while working on his new album he had to face innumerable challenges, including angst-ridden nights, travelling to various countries to record his tracks in the studios and his interaction with different types of people.
The singer has pledged that through this album, he will prove that he can sing any type of songs irrespective of their genres.
“I believe there are very few people who have the potential to make a difference. And I’m lucky to be part of such a time. It’s a privilege for me to work with Telenor and my music company, Fire Records,” the one album old singer said.
Says he: “I had never dreamt of such respect and fame ever. I must say that God has blessed me more than my wishes.”
Ali believes that the people he had worked with possess the vision and understanding of culture and music, which has inspired him.
“I always felt the pressure to satisfy my critics that I am not here for only one album. I have always been working to do more so that my new album can become more successful than the previous one,” the singer was quoted as saying in the conference.
The singer thanked all his friends, family and his manager to make this album a reality.
He stressed over the anti-piracy of the music and asked his listeners to buy the original CD. “I have worked so hard to bring the best quality of music coupled with an extreme quality of music CD. This is all because I want them (listeners) to listen to something that they never enjoyed before,” Ali informed.
His video Masty has been shot in Mumbai, India, under the direction of an Indian director Sanja Bhatachariya. Ali himself has edited the video.
Asked why pop singers preferred India over their own country, Ali said: “There are certain reasons behind all this. First we lack in professionalism, equipment and facilities. And then we don’t appreciate good work. Here people say that I copy Kishore Kumar. But when I met music director Rajesh Roshan who had worked a lot with Kishore Kumar, he said you don’t copy him actually you resemble with the singer in terms of singing attributes that the singer (Kishore) had. The singer also cited an example when a famous music director of Lollywood said that he could not sing when the music director was asked by Samina Peerzada to sign Ali for the song Jugnoon Sey Bhar Dey Anchal for her flick.”
So, all you out there! It is now time to check your CD-changers, delete some songs from your iPods, mp3 players and computers, as the singer’s latest album will be taking a lasting place in your gadgets and gizmos.
Ali Zafar’s Masty from today
By our correspondent
LAHORE: Pop singer Ali Zafar, whose album ‘Channo Ki Ankh Mein’, earned him fame launched another album, ‘Masti’ here on Thursday. The launching ceremony was held at the Alhamra Cultural Complex under the aegis of Geo TV, Telenor Pakistan and Fire Records. Geo TV Network’s Aag channel will telecast all the songs from Masti from today.
Picturised in the Indian city of Mumbai, ‘Masti’ was the second album of Channo fame. Speaking at the launching ceremony, Geo Television Network President Imran Aslam said Geo has been introducing artists at the international level, which is a big step. Aslam said it was for the first time in history that the performance of an album was launched. Ali Zafar is a good and talented singer, he said, adding that his album is being released after three years and people were eagerly awaiting it.
On the occasion Ali Zafar said he and his team faced a number of challenges while working on this new album. ÒI have faith in God. It kept me going in the darkest of hours. This album is about that and about the realisation of our dreams that follows," he said. Talking about his visit to India, Zafar said he had been given more respect in India as compared to Pakistan as people related to entertainment world in Pakistan were mostly non-professional.
Answering a question, Zafar said the Indian government supported entertainment industry to every extent whereas here in Pakistan, the government had not yet made any state-of-the-art studio and singers and artistes had to buy their own equipment. He said that our entertainment industry needed improvement.
Replying to another query, the singer said if some one said his voice resembled with Kishor Kumar’s, he took it as a complement because Kumar was a music legend. He said that in his childhood, he used to see his mother listening to Kishor and he used to pray he could also sing like Kishor.
Zafar said his new album ‘Masti’ was short in Mumbai by an Indian director Shiraz Bhatiyacharia whereas the basic concept of the album was his own. He requested his fans not to buy pirated versions of his new album. “I have worked a lot on the quality of the video so please go for the original version,” he added.
Speaking at the press conference, Telenor Pakistan’s Director Communication Syed Hasnat Masood said: "We believe in providing meaningful entertainment to our customers. Zafar, who is the brand ambassador for Telenor TalkShawk, has defined a new streak of creative music which centers on powerful lyrics and a unique vitality. Pakistanis, young and old, appreciate his talent, and Telenor Pakistan is pleased to be involved in bringing out this creative effort to its millions of customers and general public.
Talking to newsmen, Telenor Pakistan’s Brand Manager Ali Murtaza said Telenor Pakistan would be running a special ‘Masti’ offer coinciding with the launch of the album. Details will be announced in the media soon.
Fire Record’s Chief Operating Officer Dr Akbar Yezdani said it was the endeavour of Fire Records to bring quality music to the people and produce top class software so that we could promote music across all cross-sections. “We are relentlessly working for the eradication of piracy which threatens the music industry,” he said.
