Coming back to the topic, Deewana Number 1 on MTV123 Top20, and no.1 video on IM’s Jazz Most wanted video. It will probably be replaced by Na Re Na now.

Instep: So the ‘Deewana’ video was all about taking a chance?
AA: In this market, yes it was. People don’t want to think. They want to see a video of a boy waiting outside a college for a girl to come out and when she does he gives her a rose. As a nation, we are used to these images and these are the kind of videos I wouldn’t do even if my life depended on it.
Instep: What is ‘Deewana’ about? It looks like a stream of images strung together.
AA: We were trying to make a futuristic mini film about the society of the future. We are underground rebels in a time when people are being controlled by a corporation headed by Sajid Hasan, whose head honcho is Tariq Amin. That is the structure I am blasting my way through. And then, Ayesha Toor who I am accused of killing in the beginning comes back to life. And yes, it was very Minority Report.
Instep: Do you think you can capture an intricate plot with so many characters in five minutes?
AA: Well, my next video ‘Na Re Na’ which has been directed by Saqib Malik has about twenty two characters ranging from dwarves to Vaneeza Ahmad. But it is completely different from ‘Deewana’. It is not futuristic at all, but the idea is the same. I want to confuse people. I want them to think: ‘What the hell is that?’

I saw him on Most Wanted music show on ARY. He is a very funny guy. I liked his sense of humour. But what he has tried to do with Deewana song and video is not cleared. Social injustice or Romantic tragedy.....no clue. I think he is wrong that Pakistani viewers wants to see college girl/guy type of videos. I would say Pakistani people want to see some sense int he video, however and whatever topic it is on. Plain bullcrap like the ones on BET and MTV/R&B videos are not for decent audiences. Sorry!

video is senseless, useless, mindless, crap. whenever u cannot produce something decent, you put all the blame on pakistani viewers. when its an instant hit, you take the credit. one must ask how the hell your video got hit if pakistani viewers were not READY for it? did aliens came from outer space to watch the video and make it a hit? if yes then they better take AA with them, he’ll suit with them better there than on Earth

o pai ppl who have not watched the interview please dont pass judgement, ali azmat was not being an idol on the show but was merely acting himself, and the time when he told the girl "u have to have lil brains to understand the video" he was jokin, u can just tell.
He mentioned that the video was differnet and it was left to the ppl to interpret what he meant in the video, so please take it litely
on a differnet note Ali azmat and the way he was acting reminded my of my cousin, like the statemtn he made that u have to be smart to understand and than the kisses to fakhir and ali zafar was just some'n that reminded me off my cousin (no he doesnt send kisses to singers) but the style

i think the video is simply amazing! it captures the imagination and glues one to it, ive watched it counltess times already and cant wait to watch it again and again...Saqib Malik must be giving all other directors sleepless nights now :D

Are you Ali Azmat’s manager? This is a public forum Sami. Take this criticism. Ali’s new album, or atleast couple of songs that I have heard are plain shor sharaba. Sounds like a continuation of Tara Jala and Deewar type of crappy songs. 
At one hand we are maturing with Fuzon, Strings and Jal an on the other hand the masters of trade are going down the drain. Seriously I was hoping to see alot alot better compositions from Junoon and Ali.
