It would be based on my feelings and attachment to a specific person at the time. If Hazrat Uthman (RA) was one of the Sahabah I looked up to very much I would've been filled with rage and would go all out to avenge his death.
am sure u have heared this very popular story, Ali a.s was abt to kill the guy and he spitted on Imam's face ... Imam Ali a.s stepped back didtn kill him in some narations he stpped back and after a while killed him.
when he was asked later why did he back off, Imam said when the guy spitted on me, i didnt want to kill him because of that, i only kill people for ALLAH's razaa.
So because u wanted to avenge death of usman, basically u r goin to fight against ALI who doesnt kill his enemies for personal reasons. It has to be as ALLAH wants and ur reason is personal ;)
