Alfalah Bank Tournament in Sri Lanka

I really hope he said that when he was not on something and keeps his words.

hope so

:rotfl: :rotfl:

i don't understand the selection of Faisal Athar. Misbah Ul Haq is hella good and he has the highest current average for any player on our team. He hasn't played in that many matches. But his showing in the past should mean that he plays regularly.

I think Mohammad Hafeez, Yasir Hameed, Mishab Ul Haq, Faisal Iqbal will be our future and will one day be one one of the best batsmen in the world.

I agree, I never even heard of Faisal Athar before, just because one batsman can play 1 or 2 good innings doesn't mean he should get a spot in the national team.
Everytime Mizbah have been given a chance, he has taken full advantage of it.

I agree that Misbah has been hard done by, however, we must look at the brighter side of the picture.

We had never heared of Hafeez before Sharjah either, and he turned out to be a decent player. So you never know with Mohammad Athar.

Also, it is great to see some1 from Hayderabad representing a national team. He is a first ever player from the region and shud motivate tons of other kids from the region.

As a paki fan, i have my sympathies with Miabah but i also have complete support behind Athar.

Why not misbah?

I don't why PCB has a blind eye when selecting the team.
I just can't understand why PCB didn't select Misbah, he is a real talent better the Faisal Iqbal.

I think PCB wants to find the best player to fill 1,2,3 spots..........Youhana play on 4th and Younis Khan play on 5th spot...........6 or 7 are usually for all-rounder like Shoaib Malik and Navedul-hassan and Abdul Razzaq.
Rashid usually like to play on 7 or 8 spot and 9,10, 11th for bowlers.

Why the hell the keep giving Taufeeq umer chances, Obviously Tufeeq Umer hasn't played well in last 6 or 7 games including WC2003 except 80 in sharjah final. Someone has to fill Opener spots, Hafeez can possibly play @ 1 and Faisal Athar canplay 2nd but it is still very early to determine if they would bring Saleem Elahi back as an opener or his career is pretty much over like others.
Faisal Athar has played as opener and people seem to like his style and confidence, don't know if the kid has a chance but hope PCB gives him a good look.

Maybe that Misbah dude doesn't have anyone to back him up like me ;)

so who won? :-)

Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in the finals by 230 runs, with Muhammad Sami taking man of the match with his superb bowling display of 6 wickets and a brilliant 151 by Taufeeq Umar to post a humongous target of 325 runs.

assalamoalikum :jhanda:

i watched ther announcment of the paki team for the forthcoming one day event and my fears were again true, they dropped match winners winners and world class players that teams would dream to have in their sides…

where on earth is WASIM AKRAM ( argubally the best bowler in the world), where is WAQAR YOUNIS ( another legend and a amazing bowler), where is SAEED ANWAR ( one of the gr8test batsmen to play for pakistan), where is INZAMAM -UL-HAQ (THE 2CND HIGHEST TEST RUN SCORER IN PAKISTAN’S HISTORY BEHIND MIANDAD. etc etc etc

:kaboom: aamir sohail and rameez raja + the rest of paki board…

wat i don’t understand is paki board said the whole team was a flop at the world cup then answer this ? how come players like the following are retained for this tournament and the one’s mentioned above aren’t:>>>>>>>>> rashid latif, abdul razzaq, younis khan, yousef youhana ( he wasn’t a flop he just didn’t get going) and shoaib akhtar ( definetely not a flop was gr8t just that  :mad2: :mad3: general doesn’t realise how lucky we are to have him)

dude…where on earth have you been? Most senior players r out becuz the PCB wants to groom a young team for the next world cup. And thats the reason you see Razzaq etc in the team and Waseem, waqar etc out.

I don't have any problem with Shoaib being recalled if the management team feel they can make him bowl with some discipline. If he continues to bowl attacking line and length like he's bowling in a test match he'll be a liability so I guess it will be a big test of Javed's coaching credentials.

Misbah should be in the squad. Faisal Iqbal just doesn't take his chances, no matter how good he looks. Let's hope he doesn't spurn this opportunity as well.

If I look back at the WC, I realize one thing. We didn't really play that bad, sometimes it was luck that went against us or Pakistan just couldn't win any matches on the given day.

I mean look at the first match we played against Australia in Johannes burg, we had the Aussie top tumble relenteslly reducing them to 88/4 with Ponting the only recognized batsman remaining and a nobody name Andrew Symonds on the other hand, what happens next was history but up until that point, Pakistan were in a commanding position.

Similiar thing happend the match against England, we took early wickets and everything was going well until the drop catch of Collingwood. And the 2nd inning was just pure luck for the otherside,

Against India, we had put on a perfect score and we all look set for victory until Tendulkar did his magic. The reason we lost 3 matches were because we threw them away, we were in commanding position in all of them but we didn't keep our composure.

So I wouldn't say our team was a flop, but there were guys like Inzi and Razzaq who were definitly but rest others were good.

agreed, whenever i think about WC, i remember so many unfiortunate incidents as well, ofcourse we screwed it up but still, like youhana said in tv interview that ke lug raha thaa ke Allah ki marzi hee nahi :crying:

I don't understand why people keep complaining about Faisal Iqbal being a "slower batsman", go back to the matches I am sure you will find Mohd Hafeez (a more 'appreciated' batsman) equally slow (if not more). Both are good batsman, we need someone at top spot who can keep wickets, unlike Afridi.

I'm sure Misbah will get a call later, let PCB try to find more youngsters. There is nothing wrong with inviting more youngsters if PCB found them as promising ones. PCB didn't say that only Sharjah Tournament will be used for finding youngsters.

Faisal Iqbal is a fairly good batsman. And faisal athar has good stats too. why is everybody complaining?? Sure they should have given misbah a chance since he has done very well with most chances that he has given but maybe the selectors who actually saw them play are better judges of who to have in the team?

Well said Barey Mian and Changez_like. :)

Pakistan Cricket Team is in the process of rebuilding the team. Despite of fairly balance side, we sucked in the World Cup. Search for youngsters shouldn't be stopped at any cost; and it looks to me, PCB will test new guns in every tournament, be it abroad or at home. I don't see any problem with that. :)
