Aleem will be umpiring the 3rd and 4th test matches between India and Australia. He intrigues me a lot being the first ever Elite Panel Pakistani umpire. I would like to know more about him…
IMO,,,Let him be. He should stay away from the media and the lime light that does nothing but pours **** all over you. specially if you are an umpire of desi origin..,
Umpires should not be discussed to keep their personalities free from any biased conceptions.
Umpiring on the local scene is different from the international panel where one gets ripped apart for calling a wide let alone other decisions,,,
:)

I dont know if you wana know how good an umpire he is or his personal history.
I dont know about later, but I have seen him umpiring in few matches. He is one good umpire. I will put him up there with Taufel & Billy.
f&b - both.
What's a 'one call' umpire?
I like his over-all demeanor. He looks at ease and seems to be enjoying his job.
Re: Aleem Dar
It's been a while since I started this thread.
Prem Panicker has this to say about Dar after the third day in Nagpur...
"Brave umpiring?
What's with this new trip? Every commentator is banging on about Aleem Dar's "brave umpiring". IMHO, his umpiring is brave only in that it is an indictment of a lot of others doing international duty -- he is calm and unfussy in the middle; no flash, no flamboyant gestures, very confident handling of the game. He's got damn good eyes -- twice already in this game, he's spotted the faintest flick of pad before the ball hit the bat and given it to the bowler both times.
As for those LBWs, he is clearly the sort of bloke who believes in the LBW law -- if the ball is pitched in line, if it is heading to the stumps, if neither height nor width indicate it will bypass the obstacle and if the bat hasn't had a touch, the man is out. To my mind, it is a lot of the other blokes, who are giving batsmen the benefit of doubts that do not really exist, who are the brave ones -- brave to risk the wrath of bowlers toiling their hearts out on generally unresponsive pitches, that is. If Dar, not Howell, had been officiating at the end from where Flintoff, going around the wicket, nailed Jaffar in front of middle, he would have given it -- and it would have been bang on."
Re: Aleem Dar
Just wait until Dar makes an error.... then he'll be proclaimed as the most biased, incompetent umpire in the world...
Re: Aleem Dar
dar to me is the best umpire around these days....
taufel has been so bad in the recent eng-pak series that i am beginning to hate him....
Re: Aleem Dar
Taufel is clearly at the top, but Aleem Dar is not far behind. Then come Bucknor, Koertzen, Harper and last are Hair, Bowden.
Re: Aleem Dar
Watch some matches before making such comments. Taufel is the best international umpire currently.
Re: Aleem Dar
I think Aleem Dar is not yet on the top but he certainly a good prospect to become a top umpire. I agree with many of you that Taufel is the best one right now. Following by Dar, Bucknor, Koertzen and Harper. I think Darrell Hair causes too much "anxiety" in a batsmen or runner by either "pinpointing" their running or telling bowlers to be careful of danger area. HE sometimes calls them on very narrow grounds as well which makes it harder for one to understand.
