sara - you know I’m not Muslim, but husband is, makes it tricky in whether to keep it or not. A glass of wine is not intoxicating, a glass of wine is not leading anyone down a path of intoxication, and keeping wine in a cabinet is not haram for me anyway nor for husband.

No one in my house feels the need to get drunk or tempt others to. Very rarely do I drink, but I will have a glass of wine on occasion (most notably Easter and Christmas). Most times not finishing the glass. Now, if we have guests that hit the bottle more times than they should, the bottle quietly disappears. Simple.

As for the going to bars, think I have been to two in my whole life. Not going is a personal choice, I don’t want to, but I certainly wouldn’t tell anyone else they couldn’t because they sell alcohol. In that case, no one would see baseball or football at the stadiums, no one would go to most restaurants, etc.

I applaud your personal choice sara, but that is what it is, a personal choice.

Minah if you decide to go to a bar or even drink I wouldn’t have a problem wiht it, becoz you are not Muslim. But I cannot respect another Muslim who drinks alcohol and I wouldn’t force them because they know what’s right or wrong, but I would’nt offer it to them either. I’m not going to get into whether one glass is intoxicating or not because I do not have firsthand experience of it, only others’ accounts and what I’ve read, but even one sip isn’t allowed. I don’t knwo about your husband, but if you guys serve it, that’s kewl. Maybe it’s double standards, it’s okay for a Christian but not for a Muslim, but that’s how I see things right now.
