sara - you know I'm not Muslim, but husband is, makes it tricky in whether to keep it or not. A glass of wine is not intoxicating, a glass of wine is not leading anyone down a path of intoxication, and keeping wine in a cabinet is not haram for me anyway nor for husband.
No one in my house feels the need to get drunk or tempt others to. Very rarely do I drink, but I will have a glass of wine on occasion (most notably Easter and Christmas). Most times not finishing the glass. Now, if we have guests that hit the bottle more times than they should, the bottle quietly disappears. Simple.
As for the going to bars, think I have been to two in my whole life. Not going is a personal choice, I don't want to, but I certainly wouldn't tell anyone else they couldn't because they sell alcohol. In that case, no one would see baseball or football at the stadiums, no one would go to most restaurants, etc.
I applaud your personal choice sara, but that is what it is, a personal choice.
