We have established that alcohol consumption has doubled since prohibition started. So to be conservative, we have established that alcohol consumption has not decreased since prohibition started. Ergo prohibition not necessary.
What is broken is loss of personal freedom. If that is not important, I agree with you that prohibition need not be lifted.
