Only picked on mullah because of the topic, but the trend is broader you are right and applies broadly.
Focus on a few high profile, low prevalence topics and then declaring victory is easy… We only have 1/100 of drink drive accidents, or alcohol related brawls. I think even if it was legal you will not see ppl lined up to drink. Those who will, do now anyways.
But yes, the voices often have been on about these low impact, low frequency, low prevalence things.
It has changed a bit with the rise in extremist actions, whether it was sipah sahaba type sectarian violence or these new guys. To a big part there is not active opposition in words to these guys let alone action. But that’s second hand info for me. Maybe mosques in Pakistan are criticizing ISIS, jaesh, lashkar, taleban in friday khutbas, religious organization passing fliers against them, holding rallies against thrn or raising funds for soldiers families etc. I don’t know.
