In the predominantly Muslim countries surveyed, anger toward the United States remains pervasive, although the level of hatred has eased somewhat and support for the war on terrorism has inched up. Osama bin Laden, however, is viewed favorably by large percentages in Pakistan (65%), Jordan (55%) and Morocco (45%).
^^ Those numbers are very disturbing. I knew there were still enough people in Pakistan who supported Radical Islam directly or indirectly, but 65% is too much. I hope events like RedMasjid help ppl realize wht kind of retards these 'Islamists' are.
I believe there is another survey that looked at people's support of terrorism and the results of that were very different. while there are many yahoos who look at OBL favorably because they think 9/11 was not his doing and was a big conspireacy thathe is being framed for, the number whoa ctually supports terrorist attacks is much lower. lower than the number of people in US who advocated preemptive attacks even if it meant large number of civilian casualties.
I will have to find links though :) so until then consider this as a placeholder or mods can edit and delete it they so wish
Favorable views are one thing, but taking up arms in support of terrrorist is a completely seperate issue…
I doubt that the majority of those who actually have favorable views would actually go to the extent of actually fighting the govt…
Plus we dont know how these people would react to a direct Al Qaeda attack in Pakistan.
