Many believe that line, because that is exactly the one sided story we hear. The reality is not as black and white. Yes assad is a dictator and the peaceful protesters against him were legit. But the interference by saudi and qatar, means armed syrian salafis have risen and alqaeda have joined them. It is they who have made this a sectarian issues, with Anti alawite and shia slogans. But they’re main beef is with iran and its allies, and syria is the main link. On this issue, they are in bed with israel and its allies. There is a reason israel recently called saudi its last ally in the region against iran.

Many believe that line because there is truth in it. If the brutal murderer that Assad is had taken heed when peaceful protests were taking place all this would not have happened. But with the backing of regimes like Russia and Iran he turned on his own people and started butchering them. People had no choice but to take help from any quarter. Had Assad realised that Syria is not his or Alawites jagir than a solution would have come out. Fault here is Assad, Iran and Russia. Just like in Bahrain it is Saudi and the ugly rulers there killing people, Asad is doing it here. One day all these despots will go. That will be the day when Muslims will be able to truly celebrate. Till than we will have Asads, Husseins of jordan the Al Sauds of Saudi and the rest of the despots in Middle East to deal with. Support the people not the murderers.
