How the majority of Muslims and the scholars of Islam grade the Al Qaeda?

There is not a single person in my entire family who thinks of these guys as anything but a terrorist organization.
I have a large family with people living in Pakistan, Middle East, europe, north america etc and ranging from very conservative folks who support and vote for teh religiosu parties in Pakistan, hafiz e Quran ppl to extremely liberal ppl. So it covers a large spectrum of people.
Any of the scholars I have spoken to or read has never considered these guys as anything but a militant-political organization.

funguy I dont know if anyone knew about the organization before then. However people who heard about the attacks on embassies looked at them as a wrong action. They may not have known the name of the organisation, I surely had not heard of it but the people were against actions which harmed innocent ppl for political gains.

scholars probably rate it well too. after all opportunity, law and order, individuals rights and welfare a great part of what religion teaches us and US approaches all those topics better than pretty much any msulim majority country

What a pity that you made that statement :) Since the 9/11 attacks I have been to 3 diff mosques and all 3 of them talked about the curse of these organizxations and spoke against them. Maybe you missed it.
How about dropping by Northbrook Islamic Center any friday or for that matter any day and listen for yourself.

Its not an islamic organization by any means. Not sure what you mean by sheltering. Whereas there are ppl who will support Manctster United if it became anti-US all of a sudden, and there are those who sympathize with the organization. I dont see any respectable papers sheltering them.

Many of my friends from Muslim circle have the same notions, but an organization like Al Qaeda has had so much world wide support in Muslim sector, you must not say that people are uselessly biased against Muslims.
During Taleban period many Muslims considered Afghanistan as land of Allah.
A Muslim friend from Pakistan told me that their mind was with the President and hearts were with Talebans. (It happened when USA started a war campaign against Taleban regime.)
In those war days thousands of Pak citizens were willing to cross over border and join hands with Taleban Al Qaeda forces. Who was behind this sick mentality if not Imams and Mosque sermons?

As I noted the support that they have in general is from either like minded ppl, or people who dont know jack, and operate with an idiotic view of "We dont liek US, and since Alqaeda opposes US, we support them".. those types of idiots could be seen in US dumping french wine, or renaming french fries to freedom fries. The fact that the regime was only recognized by 3 countries and that too for personal interests, just like saddam was once supported by US for personal interests. and one muslim pal's opinion is a reflection of all the people? There are people who feel that as bad teh Taleban were they just got slapped around cuz they did nto give up the jackass OBL and thsu had sympathy for them and for the afghani ppl.

thousands of idiots crossed the border to join hands with taleban..not that taleban really took their help, rather used them as buffers. These peopel who went were sent by some idiot mullsh in village mosques who btw did not go themselves because this is just power play for them. of the types of idiots who went there are larger groups who have been killing one another for years. Its not a good thing, but Pakistan is a nation of 140 million plus ppl, a few thousand is nothing.

so some mosque sermons played on ppl's sentiments, and I have read about those accounts too. The sermons were less of lets go support terrorists, but lets go support teh fghani ppl who are under invasion from ann outside force. Great way to rally support..now understand, these villagesd have no pwer, no Tv, most if not all ppl are illiterate..including the so called imams, what do they know.

Does it mean there are no al-qaeda sympathizers? not at all, there defintely are, just lik ethere are supporters of domestic terrorist groups in pakistan that kill one another in the name of religious sectarianism. What it means is that not everyone who is pro afghan people is pro taleban or pro-al-qaeda.
Most of the ppl who support Al Qaeda/ Osama don't think that they were responsible for the 9/11 attacks!
most of them think it being done by jews as the news revolved around of the 4000 or so jew workers being missing from the towers on the day!
their are a lot of questions that need answers; one of them being how come no one took action against them planes when they changed their routes! was a lot of time between their turning point and the crashing!

everything went pretty slowly before Afghanistan was hit for Osama! who was right and who wrong was clearly visible on the western media as well!
Al Qaeda didn't just wake up one morning and decided to set up a corporate company and start bombing. They were financed, trained and even supported by the non Musilm powers, when it suited their interests.
Osama is not some illiterate Muslim. He is apparently well versed in the Faith. How he chooses to interperate his understanding etc only Allah knows best.

It's a matter of principles...It depends on where your beliefs lie...When you know the reason, the logic and the history behind any action, your judgment will become stronger...You can see other's point of view too...What was the thought behind our Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), sacrificing his long yearned only child, Hazrat Ismail (AS) at one command?...It doesn't take a Sufi or a Yogi to understand all of this...It takes a second...Just trace the roots, follow history and find the reason...You will understand other's, as well as your own principles...Try it...:)
