I would argue one step further - that is mountain ranges are not included in the definition “Najd” - Najd means “plateau” - which is basically high ground a plate like a step that is generally flat but high. The biggest such plateau in the region is the whole of Central Arabia. Flat and Raised … Not spikey like mountain ranges.

Additionally - Najd is a name rather than a description - which is denoted by the use of the term Al-Najd. Let’s look at history and see which fitnas came and where from to get a better picture of what is happening.

I’ll add another thing, Iraq had a name even then.

As far as high ground is East of Madinah is concerned. Saudi areas are much higher as compared to South and Central Iraq. You can check the elevations of main Iraqi cities with Riyadh.

Here are are the elevations of some cities for reference purposes:

Basra 5 m above sea level, Kufa (24 m), Baghdad (34 m), Mosul (228 m), Kirkuk (346 m) as compared to Madinah (603 m) and Riyadh (over 612 m).

The principal drainage of Najd consists of a number of eastward-flowing wadi systems that carry water only seasonally.”

4000 feet translate to over 1200 m.

As far as fitna is concerned, Do you know of any fitna in our history bigger than ISIS?
