In its annual analysis, “The Market for Tanks,” the Forecast International Weapons Group expects that the international market will produce over 6,900 main battle tanks, worth nearly $27.9 billion, through 2017. However, while increased modernization and retrofit remains transparent to our analysis of new-production tanks, this factor remains a significant component of the international market.
Dean Lockwood, Weapons Systems Analyst at Forecast International and author of the analysis, noted, “In 2007, U.S. Department of Defense contract awards for the maintenance, RESET, and upgrade of the existing M1 Abrams inventories carried a total value of over $1.223 billion.” That was equivalent to nearly 33.25 percent of the total value of all new-production main battle tanks entering the international market in 2007.

its better to export most of these tanks than keep a very huge tank park ...get all the cash to produce better AT misslies
our forces are essentially defensive and for that we have enuf tanks
any more are likely to be more of a liability as indian airpower is likely to increase exponentially

Our Army’s first obligation is to protect citizens and boundaries of Pakistan… and not worry about some saudi or somali renegade hiding in caves.

Why not? It includes them as well... The musharrafs, the Altaafs, zardaaris, BB, the sharifs, the chaudaries, they are all included... their policies and tactics have caused equal amount of damage to Pakistan.

I smell double standards here.
You demand instant punishment for the "naswaar eaters" in the north west.....but for those in power, the Politicians and the Generals you want to take them to the Court and charge them!
Its all a joke! A person like Zardari who is unanimously known to be one of the most corrupt people in Pakistan gets elected to rule the Country and all of his past corruption cases get closed.
