Al-Jazeera Says Will Play Bin Laden Tape

  • The Qatari-based channel did not say how it had received the tape nor how it had concluded that it was authentic.*

So get this.. they don’t know how they got it or if it’s authentic or not.. but they’d still play it.. that too close to the US elections so the US media can pick up on it in time..

Hmmmm intresting point,US election around the corner and another video pops up out the blue!

Well, technically, they didn't 'say' how they got it or whether its authentic. Does not automatically mean, they don't know.

Anyway, Yahoo! News has changed the linked story. Now the video is already aired.

CAIRO, Egypt - The Arab television station Al-Jazeera aired a video of Osama bin Laden (news - web sites) reading a statement Friday and promising to outline "the best way to avoid another Manhattan."

It was the first footage of the al-Qaida leader to surface in more than a year. The video showed bin Laden in traditional white robes, a turban and a cloak reading from papers and standing in front of a plain, brown cloth background.

^And above all they are blaming that it was released in Pakistan......

Well dear Pakistanis. It should remove any doubts that OBL did the 9/11.

Americans were correct that Arra-bobs are responsible for the heinous crime on that day.

The tape also renews the resolve of all peace-loving people to hunt down this menace called OBL.

Excellent point Faisal, little facts that are ignored become a big hoopla later on.

so how do Bushies feel about OBL alive and well (and not 'probably buried in tora bora') and strutting his stuff over wtc?

^^ Ticket for re-election What else?

So guys... come on speculate.. how will a Bin Laden tape at this point sway American voters?

On one hand, Bush has run his whole campaign on his expertise for fight against terrorism, and has consistently scored higher than Kerry when it comes to issues of security and terrorism.

On the other hand, Kerry has consistently blamed Bush for dropping the ball on the real source of terrorism against US i.e. Bin Laden and spending the resources on Iraq, and thus fanning global terrorism even more.

So, if Bin Laden makes new threats against US, would the American voters sway towards Bush bcz he claims he will make them more secure, or will they go towards Kerry thinking Bush has failed in this 'project' for the last 3.5 years, so lets try a new Commander In Chief?

PA- Since you deny that OBL had anything to do w/9-11 whatsoever, it appears that you're now shifting the focus of your conspiracy to Al Jazeera?

tsk, tsk

Or, are you claiming that this video is a fabrication?

well thing is Kerry's main charge is that OBL was allowed to escape, where bush people would usually respond that hes probably dead anyway. here hes alive and well, and hes claiming culpability for WTC, gloating almost.

plus his deputy is the most successful and notable in inducing american casualties in Iraq.

what has been accomplished against Al Qaeda then?

what has been accomplished against Al Qaeda then?

You see that as a negative for Bush?

What I take away from this egomaniacal pig's new video is that he is obviously unable to affect the election in the form of an attack so he's looking to do the next best thing, a "generic scare".

Mr. Bin Laden Speaks to the World

When every body thought that Mr Bin Laden is dead or seriously ill, he made another appearance on al jazeera tv. He appears to be in good health speaking in a confident tone. In his speech, he addressed the american people directly just 4 days before the upcoming elections. He outlined the reasons that led to 911 disaster. The political pundits think that this tape would help Bush in elections.

Bin Laden video threatens America

Osama Bin Laden in the new video
Bin Laden likened the US to “corrupt” Arab governments
Arabic TV station al-Jazeera has aired a videotape in which Osama Bin Laden threatens fresh attacks on the US.

The leader of the al-Qaeda network says the reasons behind the events of 11 September 2001 still exist.

Americans go to the polls in four days, but Bin Laden says their security depends on neither George W Bush nor John Kerry, but on US foreign policy.

The rivals both reacted angrily to the tape, and both vowed they would stand up to the threat posed by Bin Laden.

QUICK GUIDE

What is al-Qaeda?

Correspondents say that in its simplest form, this is a reminder from Bin Laden that he is still there and he is still a threat.

‘Another Manhattan’

In the tape, Bin Laden speaks directly to the camera in a quiet, calm voice, making small gestures with his right hand. He appears in good health.

“Oh American people,” the video begins, “my talk to you is about the best way to avoid another Manhattan; about the war, its causes and results.”

He accuses President Bush of deceiving the American people in the years since the 11 September attacks.

Your security does not lie in the hands of Kerry, Bush or al-Qaeda. Your security is in your own hands
Osama Bin Laden

Bin Laden address: Excerpts
Who is Osama Bin Laden?
“Bush is still deceiving you and hiding the truth from you, and therefore the reasons are still there to repeat what happened,” he says.

He also accuses Mr Bush of incompetence, saying the attacks on the US would have been less severe if the president had been more alert, and suggests Mr Bush abandoned his people in a time of crisis.

He ridicules the president for continuing to read a story to schoolchildren despite having just been informed of the attacks.

The video is Bin Laden’s clearest claim of responsibility yet for the attacks.

The al-Qaeda leader likens the Bush administration to Arab regimes, saying both are characterised by “hubris, arrogance, greed and unlawful acquisition of money”.

He tries to appropriate the language of the Bush administration, dismissing Mr Bush’s regular claims that al-Qaeda militants “hate freedom”.

“We fought you because we are free and do not accept injustice,” he says.

He adds: “Your security does not lie in the hands of Kerry, Bush, or al-Qaeda. Your security is in your own hands. Each and every state that does not tamper with our security will have automatically assured its own security.”

Bin Laden also says he first thought of attacking the US after seeing destroyed tower blocks in Lebanon following the Israeli invasion in 1982, which the US, he says, permitted.

A blatantly obvious attempt to influence the US elections

Your reaction to the tape
US officials say they believe the tape is authentic.

The tape alludes to Mr Bush and Mr Kerry as presidential rivals - indicating that it must have been made in the last few months.

A spokesman for al-Jazeera said the station received the tape early on Friday, but would not indicate how.

French news agency AFP quotes an unnamed US state department official as saying US diplomats in Qatar had unsuccessfully attempted to prevent al-Jazeera broadcasting the tape.

Americans ‘united’

The presidential rivals both responded quickly to the tape.

Mr Bush said: “Let me make this very clear. Americans will not be intimidated or influenced by an enemy of our country. I’m sure Senator Kerry agrees with this.”

The American people were at war and would prevail, he said.

THE BIN LADEN TAPES
29 Oct: Al-Jazeera airs video of Bin Laden admitting he carried out 11 September attacks
15 April: Bin Laden audio tape gives Europe three months to pull troops out of Islamic nations
4 Jan: Al-Jazeera airs audio tape calling on Muslims to keep fighting holy war in Middle East
10 Sept 03: Video footage shows Bin Laden walking through rocky terrain with al-Zawahri, two taped messages accompany video
Mr Kerry, meanwhile, said Americans were “absolutely united in our determination to hunt down and destroy Osama Bin Laden and the terrorists” and he would “stop at absolutely nothing” to do so.

US officials have said there will be no change in the country’s terrorism alert status.

Correspondents in Washington say it is unclear what impact this video will have on the US presidential contest.

This is the first new videotape of Bin Laden speaking to have surfaced since the US-led war in Afghanistan.

However, several audio messages believed to be from him have emerged since then.

The most recent, posted on a website known to be used by Islamist militants, strongly criticised the US and coalition forces in Iraq and ordered a jihad, or holy war, against them.

I knew He will come to resuce his best recruiting Agent Bush.

What convenient timing! Who has the most to gain from this tape?

Man the bush machine should have got him to say vote kerry, or is reverse phsychology too complicated a trick to play on the burger eating american populace at this late stage?

Whatever nice to see all the stars coming out to support W in his time of need, OBL is like the rep mascot......although a white elephant to some he's green cash in the bank against the unwashed masses.

"oooh that nasty man is mocking us, our pres will sort him out, I'm gonna vote him back in so he can finish the job!".

One of the goals of this tape by Bin Laden is to sell the idea to Muslims that the U.S. is at war with Islam. And if he is successful at selling this idea to Muslims then he garners supporting from more and more Muslims and these Muslims will feel that his attacks on America are justified. That’s his goal, divide Islam from the west and wage Jihad as a united Muslim front against the west. Bin Laden wants to manipulate the religion of Islam on both sides to make it appear to the west that it is a religion of violent Jihad and to Muslims that Islam justifies attacks such as the ones seen on 9/11, doing so could achieve his goal of war between the western world and Islam.

The fact is there are polices that need to be addressed in regard to the relationship the U.S. has with the Muslim world and the anger that some Muslims have towards the U.S. is understandable. He uses these policy glitches or failures in lack of policy to try and support his cause, he uses them as to manipulate Muslims into thinking that he is justified in what he does. If Israel and the Palestians made peace tomorrow, Bin Laden would still push for a conflict, if American troops left Saudi soil (as they have) he would still push for a conflict. But his goal is not a solution to those problems his goal is to transform Islam into a fundamental religion. The U.S. is the most influential nation at this moment in time because it is made up of all nations and this draws people from all backgrounds and this draw and influence is the threat to his fundamental Islam that he envisions.

These are the very reason why the “war on terror” will not be won by force alone. Military force must be used against the likes of Bin Laden but diplomacy and co-operation to remove his recruitment sales tools must also be part of the “war on terror.”

Bush walks into the backroom and says 'hey Osayma Ben Layden', you'd better get ready, cuz your'e on next'.

I was in stitches when my sister said this.
