AL-AMIN: To The Muslim Family

By Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin

As-salaamu’alaikum wa Rahmatullah:

I begin in the Name of ALLAH, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. I bear witness that there is only One God, worthy of all praise and worship, and He is ALLAH. I seek ALLAH’s protection from Satan, the rejected. I pray that ALLAH’s peace and blessings be upon the Prophet of ALLAH, (Muhummad, son of Abdallah), his family and those who follow him.

ALLAH (SWT) has revealed in His Book (al-Qu’ran) … “O Mankind! Reverence your Guardian-Lord, who created you from a single person. Created, of like nature, his mate, and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women. Fear ALLAH, through whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (reverence) the wombs (that bore you): for ALLAH ever watches over you.” (4:1)

The Prophet (PBUH) said, “Paradise is at the foot of the mother.” He instructed his followers, “the best amongst you is he who is best to his family, and he said I am best to my family.”

May ALLAH raise the Muslims. I ask ALLAH to guide my heart and tongue. Islam is a consciousness of the will and plan of ALLAH and a joyful submission to that will and plan. True commitment demands consistency. This is firmness of purpose. ALLAH says HE has “created man for toil and struggle.” Conscious struggle is an inescapable reality. Truth and falsehood will always be in conflict, and truth must always win in the end (for it is as ALLAH wills).

Truth is a trust; falsehood is a treason. Every claim must and will be tested; faith is a claim. Our faith must be tested. The lack of faith will crush you far more than defeat ever could. Reality cannot be learned by the intellect alone; it must be apprehended by the total personality, by the imagination as well as the mind (a human revolution). Only ALLAH rekindles the spirits so that they burst forth like springs, so that nations may be built around them.

Islam is the way those who are exiles in spirit define themselves in terms of themselves and not someone else. The Prophet said, “If you imitate a people, then you are of that people.” Cultural dependence brings with it economic and political dependence (slavery). There is no such thing as a neutral educational process. Being oppressed is a conscious experience. Defeat goes deeper into the human soul than victory. The sickness of oppression systematically verifies itself anytime a slave can only become “free” by imitating his master. Miseducation is an act of social and psychological displacement - a method and curriculum - adverse to the needs and interests of the oppressed. Ignorance is the sterile prison of the human spirit. The ignorant listen and in their deafness accuse ALLAH of being silent … they look and in their blindness they think that ALLAH does not see. Theirs is the sleep that chases the dream.

To be healthy, our life must come from a high moral system, which can have no basis except that which is favored by our Creator. “the life of this world is alluring to those who reject faith, and they scoff at those who believe. But the righteous will be above them on the Day of Resurrection; for ALLAH bestows His abundance without measure on whom He will.” (2:212)

May ALLAH give us good in this life and may He raise us in the Hereafter in the company of the righteous. If I have said anything that is offensive, may ALLAH forgive me and may you forgive me. Know that all praise is due to ALLAH, the mistakes are mine.

In Peace Strong. In Battle Strongest.
