When razia butt wrote about such issues half a century ago, it was progressive, since a female writer was discussing female issues, but 50 years on if a writer is still discussing the same issues over and over again, there is a problem. Time to find a new profession!!
^ May be its the media affect ??
Young kids watching dramas of all sorts and then thinking this is normal and adopt those characteristics.
I have started watching pakistani dramas now so do not know what media has been showing on TV for the last 5 years. But I know families where the mothers were watching indian soaps and kids watching along. What do you think the kids get from these dramas, that this is just acting, this does not happen in real life ??
Another example is Twilight saga. young girls and guys going crazy with the vampire stuff because they think its cool to bite and draw blood :(
I am just saying every other story does not have to be about 2 sisters where the ambitious sister hates on the docile sister.
Ive been following this drama from the beginning and it is pretty good so far. I loved the first couple of episodes but after the mom tells her secret, I kind of feel its gone down hill. After Zora and Shahnawaz got together, I thought maybe that would flesh out his character and allow him to like/love Zora for her simplicity and good nature. However, they haven't and the last two episodes have all been about Zuni and her fascination with being rich. She's become super annoying. I always think that truly bad characters and truly good characters are annoying, the characters who really get you are the ones that have both qualities and you see both sides. I would love to see Zora stand up to Zuni and her MIL and even shahnawaz. A character that would really improve would be the MIL (Saba Hameed) if they showed some kindness to her and maybe why she feels this way aganist her sister.
Has anyone read the novel? I know its based on a novel but its all in Urdu.
