CAPE TOWN: Pakistan team vice-captain Salman Butt has praised fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, here on Thursday, and hoped he (Shoaib) will be back in the team very soon.
“Shoaib is one of the legendary bowlers that Pakistan has produced and I expect him to be back in the team very soon,” Salman said.
He said what happened between Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Akhtar was a thing of the past. “Such things keep on happening in the team. It was a minor thing that was blown out of proportion.”
He praised Pakistan’s bowling attack. “The bowlers have done superbly against every team so far and if they continue to do so, we have a very good chance in the tournament,” he said.
To a question about his own performance, he said he was trying hard to get his form back. “I think it is just a matter of one match. I have been playing well in warm-up matches and what I need is just one good innings to get going again.”
I saw his interview on thursday 1 hour before the Pak-BD game. He was talking to an Indian Journalist in Urdu and he said exactly what is there in the News report.
I have heard PCB is not hapy with his statement about Shoaib specially with Naseem Ashraf has already hinted that Shoiab will likely be not partipating in the upcoming Saffies series.
I sincerely hope that PCB ban him for atleast 2 games with immediate effect. Kisi thrah to tu is ko team say bahir karoo :aj:
Re: Akhtar will be back, says Salman Butt/PCB not happy with Salman's statement
may be he is doing khushamad of Shoaib bhai so that shoaib can get him signed for ICL ...as his chances of permanent place in the team are diminishing quite quickly :)
Re: Akhtar will be back, says Salman Butt/PCB not happy with Salman's statement
sounds kind of irresponsible especially after PCB statements
maybe the incident wasnt serious so he is saying this but comments by Asif and Afridi make me think otherwise
Re: Akhtar will be back, says Salman Butt/PCB not happy with Salman's statement
i dont think the guy said n e thing wrong in the interview, he gave a neutral comment about his colleague and senior so wat. and Naseem Ashraf needs to grow up or probably understand things b4 lashing out at others. I agree shoaib should be reprimanded for wat he did but going out and openly criticizing ur own player and humiliating him and also announcing that he will not play any time soon is childish.
