I read Akhbar e Jahan today and got some disguesting things/stats. Edition of 25-31 March includes 10 pages for showbiz, 1 page for sports, no page for promoting education, and only one and half page on literary things.
Keeping in mind that we are a developing country, do you think that this is a balanced and appropriate approach by media to educate the nation?

the publish what the readers want to read. There are specifically dedicated film weeklies like Nigar, etc, but Akhbar e Jahan was also on same lines ( containing 10 -12 pages for show-biz). The change that happened over a decade or so is giving more coverage to Indian media than Pakistan media. reason being, Jang group is the media partner of many of the Indian movies released in Pakistan and they show Indian content on their channels half of the time. Even Geo started this trend of playing Indian songs in background of political and other News. So Jang group is filmy very filmy :)
Having said that I think magazines like Nawae waqt are still maintaining the standard.

I think it is not about what peopls want but it is about what to feed them. In that case Akhbar-e-Jahan is hitting the nail on bald head. :D

but its one of the biggest circulated weekly in Pakistan for decades and there is not a big change in the formats since its started. wohi teen aurten teen kahaniyan, wohi dulha dulhan ka safha

Yes. I agree there is no need changes and may be in future we won't see any changes and that is becuase they maintained or set a level which working on other 'fine n perfectly' and no need or any changes.
The only change if happened then that is either number of readers are increased or decreased and i'm doubt if reader numbers are decreased.

Mujeh yaad hy pehlay naam ziyada tar islamic hotain thain lekin 'shahrukh' ki pehli movie k baad naam 'shahrukh' type ana istart hogain. Koi shak nahi ke woh khawateen unka kirdar waise hi pasand karain gi :D

i see a big change in showbiz part of the magzine, that is more number of pages with glamorous contents. I agree with Lkk that it is about what we feed people. In an older edition, there was a disguesting article on having babies before marriage trend among hollywood stars. As this is the age of competition so they resort to easy part, that is, add more and more glamour and bold contents.
