Fazle Akber took four wickets in successive deliveries as Habib bank crashed to the second lowest first class total recorded in Pakistan’s cricket history.
Akber, playing for PIA, took 7 for 13 in just 49 balls – including four wickets off the last four balls of his eight overs – to skittle out the bankers for just 27 runs in 15.5 overs.
It was the second lowest total in Pakistan first class cricket, equalling the 27 runs scored by Dera Ismail Khan against Railways in the 1964-65 season.
The lowest remains the paltry 20 scored by National Bank against Pakistan Customs in the 1998-99 Patrons Trophy in Karachi.
``I never dreamt this morning of such a performance. The pitch was not bad at all. It is just fate. I am delighted,‘’ Akber told Reuters from Lahore.
The 21-year-old from Peshawar, who has played four tests for Pakistan, took successive wickets off the second, third, fourth and fifth balls of the 16th over. At that stage Habib Bank were 27 for six.
Pakistan spearhead Wasim Akram grabbed three for 14 from the other end.
``Wasim’s advice on how to bowl on a typical Gaddafi stadium wicket was very helpful,‘’ said Akber, who became the 34th bowler and only second Pakistani to take four wickets off consecutive balls.
great job by akbar...
i was very pleased by akbar in his match against england in england....
he bowled 10 overs flat out....
and gave only 20 runs....
most of which came from his last over....
and he was bowling against the wind....
i always thought he has great potential....
i hope this marvellous feat will help him catch the selectors' eyes....
Its sad to see that all the batsmen on the other team are also the batsmen for the Pakistani team.
I haven't seen him play, what kind of bowler is he, fast medium?
4 thumbz up 4 akber!..
thanx 4 posting-te-sharing kaka…
