Paindoo kaheen ka!!!
Next time he should engage his brain before opening his mouth
Hence I agree 100% with Imran Khan that Education is so important even for aspiring sportsmen
Re: Ajmal - can some one stop him before he digs this hole any bigger?!!
And hence the adage:
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt!
Re: Ajmal - can some one stop him before he digs this hole any bigger?!!
This is the problem when our players are uneducated, and are up against a section of the media that are always looking to cause controversies - note this is usually the case when it comes to the British, Australian and Indian media.
Until are players have the education and common sense to know what they are saying, they should be forced to keep their mouths shut and there should be a professional media coordinator attached to the team at all times.
Not morons like PJ Mir - but a professional media coordinator/spokesperson who can watch what they say.
Re: Ajmal - can some one stop him before he digs this hole any bigger?!!
Ajmal bowled him self with his own DOOSRA:smack:
Re: Ajmal - can some one stop him before he digs this hole any bigger?!!
Ajmal does n't seem to know himself what he's talking about. He should therefore refrain from giving any comments to the media in the future
Here is the team manager's clarification:
*"The ICC's level of tolerance of 15 degrees relates to the degree of elbow extension that is permitted in the bowling action, ie. the amount by which the arm is straightening," Pakistan team manager Naveed Akram Cheema said. "Previous tests conducted on the action of Saeed Ajmal show that the degree of elbow extension is well within ICC's tolerance levels." *
*"Saeed Ajmal was referring to the angle of elbow abduction, ie. the angle of the upper arm to the forearm and not the degree of elbow extension. This angle is approximately 23 degrees in Saeed's case" *
Re: Ajmal - can some one stop him before he digs this hole any bigger?!!
I think we are very quick to bring education into the argument and berate these guys. Not everyone has a privileged upbringing like Imran's. Their job is to play cricket and use common sense. He made a mistake, probably didn't explain it as well as the manager did, no need to rub his lack of education into it. Majority of English football players are not highly educated yet I have never seen anyone bring their lack of education and throw it at their faces.
Re: Ajmal - can some one stop him before he digs this hole any bigger?!!
My point is that players should not give interviews on controversial topics, unless accompanied by the manager or media manager or captain in todays pakistan team. Pakistan does not need any controversy after such a massive victory tainting their win.

That's the whole point EB. Ajmal did not use common sense. Noone's criticising his limited comprehension of english language. But he could have just said (I am sure Ajmal knows that people will always ask him that Q), 'look I have already been tested and cleared by the ICC and I won't be saying anything more on the matter' Why complicate things by talking about 23 degrees etc. esp. when you have no idea what you are talking about..
Re: Ajmal - can some one stop him before he digs this hole any bigger?!!
I think thm BBC guys trapped 'im. Probably started with "hey hows it going" etc...then wanted a sting like NOTW...didn't pan out, and settled with squeezing out some silly comments from him...yep
:D
Re: Ajmal - can some one stop him before he digs this hole any bigger?!!
ajmal! aa bail mughay mar...even manager explanation seems questionable and probably not in line with ICC code.
Re: Ajmal - can some one stop him before he digs this hole any bigger?!!
No need to panic. This should put the controversy to rest.
ESPNcricinfo can today provide the facts that prove the legality of Saeed Ajmal’s bowling action.
Ajmal was Man of the Series against England after taking 24 wickets in the three-Test series and playing a prominent role in Pakistan’s first Test whitewash against England.
Ajmal caused confusion when he gave a TV interview following the series and appeared to indicate he had been given dispensation by the ICC to bowl above the 15-degree tolerance limit.
Countless fans have contacted ESPNcricinfo through social networking sites and by email asking us to clarify the situation regarding Ajmal. After a thorough investigation, including extensive discussion with the ICC, these are the facts.
Ajmal’s action is well within the ICC range of tolerance. While he does bowl with a bend in his arm, it does not straighten more, on average, than about eight degrees.
His arm does come through at a bent angle but that is allowed so long as it doesn’t straighten beyond the tolerance level.
The figure of 23.5 degrees mentioned by Ajmal is the average angle of his arm at the beginning of delivery.
The ICC put Ajmal, along with other bowlers, under constant scrutiny and evidence suggests that there has been no significant deterioration in Ajmal’s action since he was tested in 2009.
Contrary to widespread belief, Ajmal’s off-break and quicker ball actually cause his arm to straighten more - though only a fraction more - than his much-debated doosra.
The ICC is reluctant to discuss bowling actions in detail because officials fear the subject is too complicated to explain.

keep your mouth shut in future ajmal...please
Re: Ajmal - can some one stop him before he digs this hole any bigger?!!
Once he gets going, you just can’t stop him. Ask England.

I agree. Ajmal misspoke and got sucked into saying stupid stuff but the media is also to blame for 'deliberately' misrepresenting facts here (i.e. knowing Ajmal bowls with a bend in his arm but that it is well within ICC tolerance level of 15 degrees). **A media manager won't stop the media distorting stories.
**So the best thing for our players is to refrain from saying anything in public esp. on sensitive and controversial subjects. That should be left to the media manager (if there is one), team manager or captain

An intelligent, informative, classy and absolutely vital report from George Dobell (Cricinfo’s Senior English Editor). Listen to what he says 15:50 onwards
**“Saeed Ajmal’s action is absolutely fine. There really isn’t any room for cynicism at all. It’s not a matter of opinion, this one. Cricket’s all about opinions, and it’s great that we all have different opinions. This one isn’t. This is factual. You cannot argue with the science…English cricket w’d do much better to learn from him than moan about him”

This lays the Saeed Ajmal bowling action argument to rest
