Frankly, i was too and still am. There was no way one could have thought looking at the impact of ball with bat and trajectory of ball before hitting the pad that one could think the ball could miss the stumps. Even the wrist position at time of delivery showed it was not an offspinner.
Pakistan offspinner Saeed Ajmal has said that he is still not sure how the Decision Review System (DRS) overturned on-field umpire Ian Gould’s lbw ruling against Sachin Tendulkar during the World Cup semi-final against India in Mohali. Gould ruled Tendulkar lbw off Ajmal in the 11th over, but the batsman reviewed the decision. Replays showed that the ball pitched in line but according to Hawk Eye the ball was missing leg stump and the decision was overturned.
“I don’t know how the television replays showed my delivery turning towards the leg side because I had bowled an arm ball and it went straight,” Ajmal told AFP on the team’s arrival in Lahore. “I was 110% confident when the referral was made that the batsman was out.” Tendulkar was on 23 at that point, and survived four dropped chances before he was dismissed after making a crucial 85 that earned him the Man of the Match award.
Ajmal picked up two wickets and said that he was happy with his bowling performance but disappointed that Pakistan lost the high-voltage clash to India by 29 runs. “All of us were very disappointed at losing the match because there was so much interest and hype attached to it. But in cricket one team has to lose and one has to win,” he said.
The pick of the Pakistan bowlers in that game was left-arm seamer Wahab Riaz who picked up his first five-wicket haul in ODIs and had India in trouble at 205 for 6 before Suresh Raina’s cameo. “The wickets of [Virender] Sehwag and Yuvraj [Singh] were most memorable for me as they are very dangerous players of pace and spin,” Riaz said. Riaz had Sehwag lbw for 38 and accounted for Yuvraj Singh for a duck with a swinging, dipping full toss.
Pakistan were warmly welcomed by their fans when they arrived in Lahore and captain Shahid Afridi, who landed in Karachi, was mobbed by joyous fans on the way to his house. Opening batsman Mohammad Hafeez, who made a quick-fire 43, urged the Pakistan fans to have faith in the team. “This team has a lot of capability and will get better results in the future,” he said.
Pakistan manager Intikhab Alam praised the team spirit and said the way the team had gelled together and played as a unit through the tournament was the most satisfying aspect of the campaign. “My main task was to unite the team and make it perform collectively and I think we achieved that to a great extent and that is satisfying for me.”
Pakistan next travel to West Indies to play Twenty20, five one-dayers and two Tests. That tour begins on April 18.
I couldn't believe my eyes when the ball didn't even graze the stump a lil bit. It was fishy indeed. I even suspect the toss. Ravi Shastri after calling Pakistani team Riksha and Indian team BMW, loss all his credibility to look at the coin and verify head or tails. The other chump with him was some indian sponsor who verified the coin toss. I am not saying that they cheated, but Afridi should have verified whether it was heads or tail as well just to be on the safe side!
Well i raised exactly that Point (not Sachin LBW as i didn't watch the Match) in another match thread ..... i Think it was Murli against Bopara in QF ..... Bopara was struck low on his Pad and the Replay showed quite clearly the Ball Turning into Leg-Stump Direction yet the Hawk-Eye Projection showed the Ball Path to be heading for Middle-Off
I Think there is a problem with using this Technology coz the Algorithm used for calculating the Flight Path of teh Ball needs a certain amount of Distance to Project its Possible path but when a Batsmen is struck shortly after the ball bounces and takes turns (as in murli to Bopara case) there seems to be insufficiant Data to project the Turn and Bounce ..... there were other dismissals of that sort ..... u'll see a Turn is projected if the ball is Pitched atleast about 3.5-4 meters away from batsman .... anything that is closer pitched and the accuracy of the Projection/path isn't same .....
A guy watching with me said something like ‘those IT gurus must have done something to the review system’ before the indians here got all riled up, it was a joke!
What goes around comes around. India lost a clear lbw against England in the tied game due to the DRS, and the same posters were criticizing Dhoni for questioning DRS. But now that the shoe is on the other foot, DRS has become questionable

bilkul jee bilkul...sahiee farmaya aap nay....man mohan and gilani shd have tossed and zardari shd have confirmed it!
I tend to disagree…there WAS DEFINITELY something fishy about it! But ofcourse jo hogya so hogya…doesnt matter…it was just a game…and our team played better than their potential throughout the tournament…Proud of my team

Ajmal is inadvertently playing straight into the hands of conspiracy theorists OR he is just blatantly lying.
There is no way that the ball was a straight ball. Even if we were to believe that the ball was going to hit the stumps, it pitched outside the off-stump line (that is not a problem for a LBW decision but it was certainly not a straight ball as Ajmal claims).
See for yourself (click to enlarge):
And for god’s sakes - the same UDRS adjudged Sehwag & Dhoni out. Sehwag was in much more marauding form than Tendulkar at that point.
I hope that Pak fans can move on from the defeat. I know it sounds outrageous to some people here but it is quite possible for India to beat Pakistan in cricket without resorting to cheating.
Ball had traveled a good distance after pitching for hawk-eye to simply follow the trajectory, as soon as he was given out I had doubts and it was cleared when given not out.
lolz bhai jaan aap to jazbaati hogaye hain lol…ok ji (although hard to believe) but maan lia that ** it is quite possible for India to beat Pakistan in cricket without resorting to cheating** abb tussi Pakistan nu chaddo te Sri Lanka di fikr karo
Can someone post the video and we can listen to what the commentators were saying, it was not just laymen like us who were surprised to see tha ball missing stumps.
