hiccup, that was an unofficial civil war. people were looting , raping, shooting and stuff.
one rapist was killed by people in the dome, and police were hunting the others. govt tried to supress it cuz there were lots of rumors spreading in the whole state and they feared riots.
bad example to compare. but nonethe less, now we dont know what happend to the ‘victims’, we dont even know if something happened. so many stories floating around and people dont even knowwhat to believe.
please read the selected parts of the original story. here goes.
1- Sources said the Punjab government had been “instructed” to hush up the matter.’ AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat, his advisor Raja Farooq, Punjab Health Minister Dr Tahir Ali Javed, Punjab Education Minister Imran Masood and Punjab Inspector General Ziaul Hassan are among those said to have visited Jamia Ashrafia. The madrassa is being closely monitored by intelligence officials and plainclothes policemen
2- * Human rights activists said the case fit a pattern of cover-ups of crimes against women. “Image phobia is driving the state and its machinery in a carte blanche cover up of crimes against women,” said Asma Jehangir, the chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan *
3- * Justice (r) Malik Muhammad Qayyum, the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, said there must be a through and independent investigation of the case. He suspected the girl had changed her statement because she had no confidence in the police *
All pointing to the fact that something is very wrong.
Sara tis true, when they have no adequate reply to a mature argument the best they can usually come up is with a slur akin to the above or "you so fat". Its very disheartening.
Tangled wires and no need for scarcasm.. I was asking about what happened in the US. You said - there was no coverup ref: hurricane kat and gangs etc, on this issue I was merely agreeing with you.
I've heard about the stories from Xtra being pretty credible, although I can't vouch for it for DEFINITE. It was a highly talked about magazine in its day, and the reasons for it shutting down are somewhat fuzzy. It was controversial though.
What is a fact is that whenever I got to Pakistan, I don't trust to be in ANY room with ANY male Pakistani ALONE. Whether it be the doctor or some army officer or whatever.
Yes, I am obsessed with the ills of Pakistan more than anywhere else. You know why? Because its Pakistanis who are talking about ghairat and conservatism and the Islamically “proper” way of doing things and how Eastern culture is so much greater than Western culture ALL THE TIME.
Its great to shove things in the face of such Pakistanis. Probably why Musharraf wants to hush hush the incident so much. What he should do is give those mullahs a good smack in their arses for once.
