This filmi Ghazal was initially sung by Habib Wali Muhammad (HWM), a great singer. I think it was picturized on Nadeem and Shabnum in a movie with rain in background (not sure). HWM was one of the wealthiest families who migrated to Pakistan and had a great talent. A true rare century flower. I have met him and his family a while ago.

Well - he has a DIFFERENT kind of voice .. with lot of KHARAJ - In my personal opinion (I am no music critic), he is one of those singers who cant be copied. His style (voice) was something like Sehgal.

Gajra bana kay lay aa MalaniYaa
and all songs of the film Baazi are my personal all time favourites.

Aay nigar e watan tu salamat rahay (national song) is something that the most versatile and seasoned singers would hesitate to try. You have to listen to it to understand what I am trying to say. Even an above average singer who has a sense of music, will find it difficult to control the kharaj and the panchum in this song. Only Habib Sahib could do it :k:
